A few years ago somehow I managed to get invited to a day riding around Manfeild on a selection of new Hondas, everything from a 250 to a Goldwing. It was a good job no one could hear me yahooing at the top of my lungs as I screamed down the back straight at full tit on a brand new machine.Reignited the biking bug and it didn't cost a penny. ( That's a bit less than one cent for you youngsters )

Bollocks! You can't buy for ten cents what you used to get for a penny. Even towards the end of the pounds-shillings-pence days sixpence worth of lollies would suffice for me and my friends - would cost over three bucks for that much rot-gut these days...

I went to the Ohakune rally one year with Joe and his crew (he wasnt racing).. He led us out to the arse-end of nowhere on a special stage, and declares that the best crashes will be seen from this corner.. He was right :-P

Fun times. Nice bloke to get on the piss with.

What year was that? I was Joe's team photographer for about three years so went to all the rallies with him and Andrea. Ohakune was fun - we stayed at the pub too long after the rally and the taxi driver had gone to bed so we had to walk about 5kms back to the place we were staying! Joe was walking down the middle of the road swearing and cursing (we were all rolling drunk) and I said "why don't you try hitching?" He looked at me and said "you stupid bitch, it's 3am, do you see any cars?" Next thing this little 4WD appeared out of nowhere and he ran into the middle of the road in front of it. Amazingly they stopped, and the first thing the driver said was "you're Joe McAndrew!" "Yes" he said, as he climbed on top of the passenger - "hop in everyone!" There was space for me, Andrea and one other woman in the back where the rear door opened - Andrea was hanging over the back seat and grinning like a loony! The other five or six had to stay behind but the driver said he'd drop us off and pick them up. We got back to the chalet and Joe invited them in for drinks - the rest of the group turned up about an hour later and weren't happy at all! Those were the days, I miss those guys!

If that was in the last five years, let me know - I was there too, and took photos of just about everyone riding that day. If you can remember and can describe your riding gear/helmet, I can hunt them out. I was too short to ride anything other than that 250 they had but my husband rode everything and had a ball!

Hmmm.... there have been several "best fun ever" events, and it would be hard to pick the best, as they were all pretty damned good at the time.
In no particular order:

First motorbike ride.
Waterskiing for the first time - got up the first time too. (I had some clothes on).
Skiing, especially when the weather's good, the snow is sublime, and it's one long, fast run with perfectly linked turns and no mistakes.
The first (and only) long dirt ride I did (longer by dint of me missing a marker and doing one section twice.) It was supposed to be 100km, but ended up probably 130.
The first time abseiling.
Snowmobiling last year near Queenstown.
The Awakino Gorge, on my VF500.
The west side of the highway over the Kaimais, on my VFR750.
Driving a Honda Accord as fast as it could go, on the windy bits between Kaikoura and Christchurch. The tyres were scrabbling for grip, the engine was screaming, and it was so much fun. Frustrating too though, as it was such a soft, lardy piece of crap. But the trip took 25 minutes less than the trip north Unfortunately, I spent the time saved (and then some) waiting for my wife to get home, as I'd left my house keys behind.
The sublime feeling of the first properly balanced wheelie.
Riding with ~400 other bikers at a Honda Owners Club rally.
Jet boating up the Dart River a couple of weeks ago.
