There's a lot of art I just don't understand, and I acknowledge I'm ignorant, but I'm also sure there's a lot of art that's just Emperors' new clothes stuff.

All the hipsters say "oooh, that's art". And everyone nods their head and agrees.

Does that mean Ann Tolley is now an artist?

From what I understand about art is that, after the invention and mainstream spread of the camera, art became less concerned with realism and has started on an increasing curve of abstraction (obviously this is a gross oversimplification though.) It's reached the point where it's more concerned about the emotional response to the piece then the actual content of the art itself. Most artists would hold a piece successful despite, or perhaps because of getting a lot of negative attention. In this respect I think he has done well.

That said, I like the constructive side of art much more then this. I will love a bike and the artist who rescues a bike from a scrapheap and turns it into something beautiful.

Some might call it "art" but whether it is a ceramic bowl or a motorcycle (or whatever) I'll prefer to call it vandalism.

Apparently this is considered "art". A polished, bare aircraft which is then displayed upside down.

    I like the idea...

I'd contribute towards bashing Ahmet with a sledgehammer and stuffing his remains in a box... I suspect it would be about the most useful thing he had ever done...
