    A German needs help

    Hey Kiwi-Biker,

my name is Matthias and I'm from Nuremberg in Germany. On Monday the 3. September my plan arrives in Auckland. My Suzuki DR 350 comes in a woochest with a ship on the 13. September.
I'll stay for 9 month in NZ for a work and travel holiday.

But now I have a very big problem. The woodchest has to store anywhere for this 9 month. But I don't know where?

Can somebody sore the chest? I'll give you money for this.

    Thank you for your answers

    Greetings from Germany

    Matz

Gidday, rent the chest to a homeless person for the time required. Winz would be happy to pay them rent. Have you got work sorted for Auckland, if so they may be able to look after your box. Will keep an eye on this thread,if you have no luck from anyone else,I could probably arrange something for you.

Thanks for quick answer. At the moment I don't have work in Auckland, but I asked my Backpackers maybe they have a place for my chest.

Hope there's somebody who can do it ;-)

First port of call would be to talk to the freight forwarder/customs broker you used to get the bike into NZ. They may be able to offer a reasonable storage solution (some of them are really helpful, some will just want to charge you heaps of $$$, but worth asking the question).

At first I asked my hauler?(hope that's right) they will store the chest for 25$ per week, i'm 40 weeks in NZ so that's 1000$ and that's to much! Now I'm looking for an alternative

OK, so I guess the next question for those watching this thread - what is your budget to pay someone to store your crate for 40 weeks?
Might also pay to list the size of it (and whether it can be broken down to make smaller)?

The crate is 2,40 x 0,95 x 1,50 m (l x b x h). The side walls can be unscrew with a torx screwdriver. The whole crate has a weight from 175 kg. So can you transport it with your ute?

    That would be very fine

Sorry but Nuremberg und Nürburgring are not the same :P there are 400 km between it. We in Nuremberg have Bratwürste and Sauerkraut Nurburgring you "just" can drive cars and Motorbikes ;-)

I have a friend from Passau (in Germany) once come to me & say, "Steve, what is mean to take the piss"?
Im fully aware of the difference between the two, & every Kiwi reading this knows I am too.
Can someone please explain to the man about "Taking "The" piss as opposed to taking "A" piss.
