    Deer down, rider up.

Check out this rally Moto racers determination to get too the line. I'm guessing this was on a closed road.

Is it just me, or was he still accelerating when he hit it? Must have been well focused on the road to not see a deer.

I can't speak for the guy in the vid but I have had a few altercations with deer in Scotland, the bastards hide in the bushes or behind snow drifts & launch themselves at you at the last moment. They can disguise themselves as lamp posts, phone boxes, a packet of Swan Vestas etc. Not much give in them either, a deer wrote off my car when I hit it at about 30mph.

he eased off the gas right before he hit it, I would've been braking by that point, funny how he just gets straight up though..suppose the deer bolted as well though

It was a race. Hence the number and the quick get-up.

I had an encounter with a deer once in '91. I was driving back to Michigan from Kentucky in the late evening in winter and this deer doing its deer gang initiation jumped in front of my car.

After the resulting bang, I pulled over and checked my car - Missing front left indicator was all.

From that day on, somewhere between Kentucky and Michgan was some deer with a 1988 Honda Accord indicator light stuck in its left buttock. Wonder if he ever got mistaken for Rudolf's cousin...

I came across a deer in the middle of the road out by Te Whati a few years ago.
Came to a sliding halt and dived in the boot to grab Sako.
Managed to get the bolt in and a round up the spout but by then the bugger had vanished around the corner.
So I sprinted up there in my best smokers "at the time" fashion.
Just in time to see him vanish around the next corner,so feet don't fail me now yet again.
Just to see him vanish around the next friggin' corner,,so at it again.
This time I come around the corner an there he is standing side on looking back at me at about 50 yards.
Down on one knee an this buggers coming home for tea,,,but I couldn't hold the rifle still to get a shot away because I was puffing so hard from the run.
    Wasn't long after that I gave up smoking,looked like a nice stag too,,bugger !
So there you go,it's proven smoking saves lives:

Seemed to me like he just kinda zoned out and was looking at what he didnt want to hit. Had heaps of encounters with deer on the road down this way.

That was good work by the deer to jump so it got hit by the rider and not the bike.
