New bike "safety" requirement... to be

Once the Govt find out about this device I'm sure MotoNZ will be put into acton running a "study" to "prove/show" it saves lives & soon there after we'll all be forced to have one to comply with the dictated laws... but hey on the upside, it's "the coolest thing to happen to motorcycles since Easy Rider." or so say the creaters

You've lost me. Is it that if you keep your hands in your pockets you won't die of excessive speeding?

Or have your bars at a really odd angle.

nono, it's that a new light will magically stop you from being hit, so no longer do you have to worry about other vehicles & can start daydreaming while riding just like 80% of other drivers out there

Actually looks like a good idea to me. Anything that makes us more obvious to other motorists, not sure how that can be bad.

Sorry, my bad, this is KB. Fecking stupid idea.

It looks to me like it provides lighting to the rear of the helmet. No point providing additional lighting in the front, as we already have a permanent headlight which would be much birghter.

Number one cause of multi-vehicle motorcycle accidents is from a car pulling out in front across the path of the motorcycle.

I can't see how lighting at the rear will help. Actually, the only kind of accident I can see it helping with is riders struck from behind, but that is a pretty tiny percentage of the accidents.

rastuscat, this is your area. Can you think of many accidents you've seen where additional lighting on the back of the helmet would have made a difference? I'm guessing it wont be that many accidents.

Might be of advantage in America...

C'mon Rastus, admit it..... it would be a handy thing for the popo when following or observing a bike lane splitting/weaving through traffic, even if you can only see the rider.......
Do you realise Sir, you had to apply brakes at this point, that place, coming up behind 'that' vehicle. You didnt indicate at this point, or at that place when you should have??

Their is another version of this idea available. An LED brake light that attaches to the old helmet. I think it is a good idea but needs more work, you would need one for the pillion too.
I've been bumped up the arse twice at stop signs despite hitting the brakes miles away to show I am stopping. Both times the drivers first comment was "Why did you stop?"
Sadly, their are non so blind as those who will not see.

Fantastic! Does that mean you think it would be a good idea for all motorcyclists to have say, a red flashing light.................. and maybe a siren!
Ought to make lane splitting easier anyway.
If you can keep your head when all about you are loosing theirs.........it's quite possible you haven't grasped the situation.

You know that contrast makes a bigger impression, and blue being the opposite of red I would suggest a blue flashing light on the left shoulder alternating with a red one on the right shoulder. Should totally make lane splitting a breeze.
