All chrome and hot air, but when it comes to handling...NA!
The Street Bob is the best handling bike and has the best ground clearance out of all the Harley Davidson family and is also the most popular Harley for resale and ownership

I am always suprised how many jap sports bike riders troll the cruiser page. Makes them feel better about riding jappers I guess.

Interesting comment re: best handling. Is it better than the XR1200 ?
Genuine query as I'm looking at the XR as an option (amongst others).

PS: I like the "new perspective" comment - that is how it should be

They were hire bikes. My missus had the 883 - I took it for a run - it was awful! (She hated it as well), The Honda VT1100? I had wasn't tooooo bad........
Perhaps I should take my nephews Night Rod for a run - would that be a better choice?

About mid last year a few of us went on a Harley 2012 bike promotion demo thing.

I was going along to review the new Switchback, and had two others with me (to test out, but also to follow along on a bike and take photos of the switchback in motion).

He first went out on the Harley Sportster 1200 custom. He hated it.

He had a go on the Night Rod... and his comment was along the lines of "it felt like a bike; like a proper motorcycle".

Positive feedback from him (a Ducati and DZ rider) I tells you.

Actually, a lot of us simply browse the "What's New?" page. I guess we like to view current topics as opposed to historic, out of date ones. A bit like the bikes we choose to ride.

    As you were.

Looking at the other bikes you have listed it would seem your more than qualified to ignore the knockers while you simply enjoy your ride.
    More power to you man.

Performance wise, the XR is great, I have read from some 'reviewers' that they questioned some of the build quality, exhaust brackets, seat, and some of the finish.... However if I was going to buy a HD? Then I believe an XR1200 would actually see me in the HD 'fold'.... and I not one of the 'stricken'..

Not all of us are interested in the latest and greatest.

Jap to me are just bikes are disposable vehicles for the want now and throw away generation. Just like you.

Yeh me too like all bikers .... they have preferences in style and make of bike, but hey ... we are all bikers..... sadly one of my very good Harley mates binned his new Harley between Rotorua and Taupo couple weeks ago ... still in Hospital not heard yet if the Harley is written off or re-build-able .... glad to say the expertise of the surgeons rebuilt him tho and he will recover
