Good shit, welcome to the crossover club.

I test-rode a 103 Fat Bob - didn't really do it for me, too slick and big and heavy and Japanese-feeling in its smoothness; I wanted something smaller, lighter, more bare-bones. It's a very nice bike, though. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Not slow, either. Spring's coming and cunts who don't know will be lining up to receive the learn.

Let me know when you manage to put a sentence together that actually makes sense, Tinkerbell.

Besides, if you actually read this thread without being all defensive (like a lot of Harley owners on KB seem to be) you'd notice I actually complimented Qkkid on his new ride.

The only shite Scouse is whats coming out of your arse im afraid, i never said i wanted a "Sports XR1200 Harley" as i already got that in our Suzuki B-kings as they are a upright riding position also.
I am after a REAL Harley Davidson "Cruiser style" that has great ground clearance and the best Cruiser style handling out or all the "cruiser style" Harleys and has some boogey and has great resale/ownership ability as they are the biggest selling Harley Davidson model the "Fat Bob is"not another sports style looking bike
Also i wanted a bike with a different perspective to riding c'mon get with it scouse
The 2 bikes look nothing like each other
Go away and do your homework better still go part with cash go buy one before ya even think about having a opinion.
    Sorry

I've never understood the fixation with resale value.

It's as if someone buys the bike for the status - to be upgraded when the newest coolest one comes out.

My main bike is 18 years old. Resale? Nope.. I'm gonna ride it.

I only just got it in time another 2hrs later and another purchaser would of got it.
You do realise that the sales spiel has to be taken with a large bucket of salt dont you?
Its not meant to be taken literally, he is just selling you a bike after all.

I am after a REAL Harley Davidson
Of course you are, Ian said you were a REAL MAN and REAL MEN dont ride Sportsters because Sportsters arent REAL Harleys
    On the other hand,
Harley have sold more Sportsters than any other model
XL Sportsters have been in continuous production since 1957, one of the longest running models in motorcycling history
So if you want a REAL HARLEY buy a Sportster, not a Fat Bob Big Bob Black Bob with fancy paint.

FatBobs dont even have Fat bobs, how fake is that

I have brought a 1 of 200 in the world limited edition 103 cubic inches of 2012 Fat Bob Epidemic ,badge number 36 its the only one in the country
Just a little point, I am sure you are aware of but , you seem to be under the impression that your Fatbob is a limited edition model called Epedemic
Perhaps Ian didnt explain it to you properly.
Epidemic is the name given to a limited edition numbered factory paint job
There are a number of "limited edition" numbered paint jobs available for Dynas, Softails and even the not a REAL HARLEY Sportster.
The 200 limited editions apply to each model so there will be around 3000 bikes with each of the limited edition numbered paint jobs
    (ie 3000 Epidemics)
and then an unlimited number of Epidemic etc paint jobs will be available, without the number.

    Black Cherry Arson
    Flashover
    Afterburner
    Cherry Bomb
    Grind
    Epidemic
    Laguna
    Rage
    Tango
    Ritual

So your bike isnt a "Limited Edition" its your paint job

And thats what you get for dissin Sportsters !!!!

    Nice bike BTW

She will be up for sale when its finished ...... will I try for top dollar????? nah it will probably sell for about $2500 or so Im picking ..... am I worried at that ...... nah as I said ... shes a gorgeous cruiser and has given me lots of satisfaction and fun over the 11 years I have had it.

Agree 100%... Plus resale has a lot of variables that go with the plan.
When you really do the sums on most anything you buy depreciation hits all by around the same amount. We all hear of the good stories. I paid this, then sold it for that ....

    Only two?

    I have about 40

    edit -

Also further on the thought of resale - I could understand wanting a retaining sale value if you were on a learner bike with every expectation to upgrade to a bike you cannot ride on a learner license. It's shit to spend $5K on a learner bike from a dealer, then get $2K resale a year and bit later, then have to front another $5K for a decent newish non-learner bike.

Resale value? Thats why second hand HD's reached such a low price in the USA, people from europe (dealers etc) are going over and buying them to fill containers,,, the bubble for the overpriced S/hand HD in other countries WILL burst.. its a simple matter of oversupply vs demand in the end.. and HD have reached 'oversupply' in their home country.

What are the real facts on different brands retaining a high resale value? Certainly HD sellers seem to ask high prices relative to new for some bikes that are many years old. But - some of these (viewed on Trademe and Dealer listings) have very low Kms and are in show room condition. Buying an ex demo or new previous year model at reduced price seems a good way to minimize the overall cost of owning any make of bike.
    Here for the ride.
