my only experience of them is a mates big yammy 500 single smoker.I cant remember what they were called but it never ran for long before the piston ring snagged or the piston nipped up...was only a 4 speed i think...i cant remember what they were called
I see the bid's are creeping up and a while to go, got them both on my watch list for sure - not buying just watching.
It's a bit like the Ford/Holden thing and I guess whoever bids for one is liking to have both of them in his shed. They don't make 'em any more after all ,
That's why I'm doing my best too ....

[QUOTE=BMWST?;1130374977]yep sc500 was the one.

Oooooh ouch!
[QUOTE=Crasherfromwayback;1130374990]Exactly, The SC500 is probably famous for the fact it never won a race because it was an unruly pig and not very powerful for a 500 although back then it probably was being the only 2T 500 out there
Unfortunately for the SC500, it's stablemate the YZ360A , while about twice the price , was the machine - more power, lighter and better handling to boot.
And i see the Ebay auction is ticking away nicely ...reserve still not met and....... 2 days to go ...
Here's another for you. $6500.00 buy now. Was about my guess for what the others were worth.

I thought the other two were good buying at US 7.6k apiece but US 6800 is damn good $$, the value can surely only head North from there. Not a lot of investment return there after 8 - 10 years , if any at all but I don't know what they cost new in the States back then. ( 2004 KX500 NZ $10,750 , 2001 CR500 NZ $11,000 )
Might be a consequence of the mortgage crisis in the US where everyones trying to quit their toys to meet the monthly payments..
Good call Crasher , looks like I'll be hanging on to my 2 Hunnys for a while yet then .......
from memory they were about 6k new in the states back then, (that would be less sales tax as that is how MSRP is advertised over their,
I thought the same with crasher that they would be between 6500 and 7, still not a good rate of return, but even mint bikes from the 70's would not be a good investment if brought brand new and sold now, maybe at the peak before the global meltdown,
