What octane fuel for a DR-Z400SM?

Anyone give me some advise on whether it's OK to run 91 RON in a DR-Z400SM ? Or should I stick with 95/98 ?

I don;t have the manual for the bike and a US version of the manual is saying to use 87 AKI .. which is equivilant to 91 RON here.

Also the bike has had quite a few modifications done to it (full exhaust replacement, new carbs, jets, K & N, 3x3 mod etc etc etc etc etc .. done by previous owner) Do mods like those make a difference to what fuel to run ?

    Thanks!

The Clymer manual reccomends 91. Here's a online copy for you.

Try 3 tanks of each and see if there is any difference. Some bikes like 95 some prefer 91. My GSX is much better on 91 as was my previos DL1000. The DL1000 I had before that would fart and jump on 91 but was smooth on 95. So its not just that bike type A is better on 95 or 91 it can even vary between bikes of the same model.
