Sorry I can't meet up TS, but for mine, I'd recommend the Rimutakas.
Paekakariki Hill is a good road, but potentially far more dangerous than the takas as you don't have a lot of visibility.
On the takas you have heaps more visibility, the corners are much faster, and although the road surface on Paekak is better, the takas give you much more opportunity to scrape pegs and generally be a total hoon.
Others will probably disagree and, of course, the takas are copletely out of your way.
How about - do the takas (takes about an hour out of your day), turn around at Featherston and come back again, go over Haywards and do Paekakariki on the way out of Welly.
Best of both worlds!
And will only take up an extra hour out of you day, which I guarantee will be worth it. You will love both rides!
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.
