That superglide boat tail fx has been on there for ages, from what I hear it is made out of several bikes. He has stopped answering questions about its originality and so it sits there.

Does this applies to personal sales... probably not. I haven't done research past that.

But it IS worth knowing that retailers that only sell through Trademe are subject to CGA. Some put items on "discount" and stipulate they do not come with a warranty (as opposed to the more expensive, identical items that they say DO come with one). However, this "no warranty" items are covered by the CGA if you purchase it with buy now.

It also applies to retail shops. Jansen (apparently "Pro Audio") up in Auckland tried to sell me a digital mixing desk for "well below it's value". They said it all works fine as a normal desk, but they did not know if the firewire in/out bus worked - and that it would come with no warranty.

I requested they test it. They said they had no computers with firewire. I offered to pay for the item plus postage, so that I could test it and keep it if it worked. They didn't want to do that. I asked what was the problem; they'd have their money if it worked. They said there's no warranty, so I can't return it if it doesn't work. I pointed out that they are a retail shop, selling me one of their products and warranty or no warranty they have advertised it as new to me at a low price - and that I'd be covered by CGA regardless of their lack warranty.

Jansen suddenly didn't have it for sale for me.
Faulty goods sold as faulty goods are not covered under the CGA.
Maybe the reason they decided not to sell it to you was because the whole process was getting far too complicated.
Someone else fronted up and didnt argue the point . And it took 10 minutes to sort the firewire
Heard the one about gift horses?

They didn't say the firewire didn't work. They said they hadn't tested it and it is brand new, in the box and off their shelf

    it is covered.

If that were true they would have said nothing, sold it to you for the full price and let you test it.
If there was a problem you would get back to them.
When you buy new "stuff" do you expect the retailer to have unpacked, assembled and tested all functions?

I think you have completely missed the point.

At 60 k for an ole shovel it will just sit there
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

Actually, with that type of equipment you're an idiot as a retailer if you don't test its functionality. Electromechanical contrivances used for music are notoriously finicky and prone to unexpected issues.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

Private sales are not covered by the CGA. Goods sold "in trade" only. I will find the reference at work.

One way to make motorcycling in NZ more attractive would be to stimulate it by selling 2nd-hand motorcycles at reasonable prices not the over-inflated bollocks the dealer and private market foist on us.
Your 1125CR you crashed and wrote off had fuck all wrong with it. It was repaired by Tony McMurdo, a multi times NZ road racing champion that's built more bikes that you've owned. There was nothing wrong with it, other than the squid that wrote it off in the first place.

It's private sellers on TM that try and sell shit for well over it's market value...HD's especially. They try and cash in on the fact that a lot of Kiwi's don't know how much new ones have come back in price.

The biggest over inflated bollocks in this thread...is your opinion of the people that actually do know motorcycles.

Um, a Nightster was $16.5k brand spankers, a 48 is $18.5k brand spankers and they are 10999 US. And our dollar has never been stronger against the USD (well since the 60's)

God knows what a 72 will be. Importers set the prices based purely on what they can gouge out of their customers. I know that you dont set the prices but they have not by any stretch of the word "come back"

.......said the frustrated would-be Sportster owner. also, buy my scooter
