Thanks, I shall do this weekend. Was surprised that the bike was working fine again this morning, might have something to do with the wind? Beautiful day for a ride today!

So after getting her back from the shop I have noticed that when in 4th/5th and going steady speeds or slowing down she has been acting as if she is running out of fuel.

First off I put it down to the strong winds as I could only just feel it, but then when the wind died down a bit the other day I was still noticing it but put it down to being almost empty on fuel. Then I got sick so haven't been out, but on the way in this morning I filled her up and it is still happening.

Would this be in any way linked to them fixing up the throttle plate/carb? A quick search on the net showed that it may do but to be honest I didn't understand half of what they were talking about.
Go back and ask them... They are nice chaps and they won't bite.... much...

what speed are you doing in 4th and 5th when this happens? if you speed up does it go away?

It seems to happen at any speed. Only when accelerating fast does it go away.

I had a bad weekend so didn't get to checking it out much more, but did notice that the battery cover hasn't been holding very well and coming loose in the high winds. When I fastened it (good old sticky tape for testing!) it seemed to fix the problem which makes me worry it is something electrical which is a wee bit over my head.

There also seems to be a small tube only connected to one end...so am going to have to ring up the bike shop and ask them whether anything they did would have affected this as is quite peculiar that this has happened when I got her back as its never done this or come loose in winds before

The small tube is probably an overflow for the battery (can you see liquid inside it? is it between the red lines?) or is the battery a bright yellow one?

My girlfriends GN250 had a bit of trouble when one of the screws holding the jumper to the battery came loose, I thought I'd tightened it up but the wee nut had actually rounded off and was spinning in the terminal, when I tightened it it did tighten but it was fake, just tricking, and came loose again.

give the cables sitting on the battery a wee tug, especially up and down, if they're loose then it might be as you ride along the wind buffets the terminal causing it to connect and disconnect which would result in a choking sensation (does it backfire? when it feels as though it's running out of fuel?)

this is only speculation, it could be something else, but yes a bike shop ought to see you right.

Check that there's a tube going from the righthand side of the carb and over the top of the battery box, in a place where the wind won't get it.
I've had a similar issue form wind/turbulence changing the air pressure on that line (carb bowl vent)
    It wants dead still air.

I do believe that is it. So in theory if I can make sure my cover is secured properly (like I have managed with tape so far) that should do the trick? The rest seem to be fine, and taping the cover on seems to have done the trick this week.

Could be it, I had issues because I run mine without the covers
