    Dominion Road

    Shining like a strip
Cut from a sheet metal plate
    'Cos its just been raining..

also a really great place to meet other motorcyclists.
I was herding sports bikes along the bus lane last week (makes a change from herding scooters), when a gentleman of not great mirror looking skills waiting until the first two bikes went past, then pulled into the lefthand (bus) lane, cutting off the bike in front of me (and me, although, I see him moving apparently a long time before anyone else..).

The lights went red, and we all stopped... surrounding the poor chap in the car.
Guy in front turns around and glares at the car driver, points at his mirrors, then the driver, mirrors, driver, etc.. in an entirely intimidating manner.
Guy in front of me points at the guy in the car, then at his mirrors, the guys mirrors, the bikes mirrors, and back at the guy in the car repeatedly, in an even more intimidating manner.

I was laughing my head off, because a: it was hilarious, b: the guy was pooing himself, c: there was 5 of us, and d: it was hilarious.
I'm guessing he was paranoid in his mirror use after that..

I use Dominion Road regularly on the scooter and bike but treat it with great care for the reasons mentioned in your post.
Especially when the traffic stops on an intersection and someone 'waves' a car across.....you can't easily see them or them us.
From one end of Dom road to the other takes me 15 minutes.....but now I prefer Sandringham road/Mt Albert/ Mays/ Richardson as less traffic and lights.

It can be a bit nerve wracking some times, but I find on the ZRX that I am sitting mostly high enough to see over the cars.

Its only 6km.. it only takes me about 18mins on my push bike..

I've got a bit of footage here - dont think there is any bicycle footage though:

    this is my route:
