Link me up to the stats site that you have.
Well there y'go, 212Kg. Not as bad as I'd remembered but hardly best in class. If we're talking about hyper/ultra motards that'd probably be the KTM SMT: http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/mod...oto_t%2009.htm
I'd say the diference there is that whereas the Ape is one of a quite a few 17" shod road bikes styled as dirt bikes so as to fit the motard marketing frame, teh KTM actually is large dirt bike technology with 17" stickies.

Still, while the Buell is also over 30Kg less than the Ape, it doesn't actually feel like it because it carries the mass quite high. And the 750 Shiver I had a play with, while not quite as porky as the 1200 wasn't exactly delicate either, and yet it felt tolerably nimble in spite of the comparitavely huge rake. So my distain of slightly overweight machines, largely born in comparing dirt machinery is probably a little less relevant for road bikes, eh?
Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon

    Alot to take in.
I think at 6.4 maybe the Ape feels good due to being tall and since the wife will go on the back im not sure about getting a smaller tard.
You may think wife on back. Is she mad. The answer is--------YES. Her first impression was. that seat doesnt look as bad as I thought it would. Shes done a North Island tour on a SP1 seat with me.

Plus if its to bad it gives me the excuse to build up a touring bike to store at work and swap over for a two up trip and have the tard for myself to play with. At least I made a effort to get a two up capable bike first.
I have evolved as a KB member. Now nothing I say should be taken seriously.
