    All warnings used up

Used up the months issue of warnings today.

Stopped and spoke to 5 riders who were, ahem, riding at speeds that the highway patrol would have written them tickets for. Once I had warned the first guy, I found it impossible to write anyone else tickets. Some days it happens like that.

When I was heading out that way I was overtaken by an ambulance. Hope it wasn't one of us.

I need to HTFU. As nice as it was to ride out there today, I was a bit frustrated at the number of folk I had to talk to about minor alterations to their F***ING SPEED. Also out there today was a Highways marked car, and a plain speed camera van. I have no idea on how that went, but I imagine some riders have lighter wallets than they had this morning.

Also chatted to a bloke who had fitted new tyres, and was weaving madly across the roadway at low speed. Scrubbing the tyres in, I'm advised. Anyway, Mr Rossi was sent on his way with advice to scrub them in without riding LIKE A KNOB.

Wrote a ticket for a cage driver though. Grrrrrr.

Lots more bikes heading out that way as the weather improves. Next time it's my turn I'll come out with my game face on.

    See yaz.

Saw the Highway Patrol car reducing the value of a triumph owners wallet just south of TaiTapu.

    He was heading towards chch

Thought to myself, silly place to get a ticket, must have been going over the limit when going though TaiTapu .

Friday /Saturday they obviously couldn't be arsed going out hunting so they had the Northen Motorway staked out, cause it's an obvious accident blackspot

122 undisclosed, coz I don't want anyone guessing who the lucky bastard was.

Trouble is, in disclosing this, I could get in the shit for not having taken enforcement action.

    So sod off.

I've only been in the country a few years so some of the finer points of the road rules here continue to elude me, but isn't there some goofy officially endorsed buffer or tolerance or some such? Always see it on Holiday weekends that the official tolerance goes from 110 to 105 or some such, no? The whole concept amuses me to no end, but I digress.

I fully support the work you do. Not to blow smoke up your ass, but you seem to be the model of what a coppa should be, rather then what some of them are. However, surely 109 is within the "tolerance"? And there isn't a whole lot in it between 110 and 113. I suppose speeding is speeding, but doesn't it get a bit hazey when there's a publicly acknowledged "tolerance" over the limit?

Good on you for nabbing people doing 119+ ect. But iunno, doesn't seem to be a lot in it at 109 or whatever. Particularly if they're on machines capable of doing twice that or more. If they're riding like knobs though, good on you!

But fuck I wasn't there so I dont know Just an observation imo. I nana ride so I have no stake in this.

As I understand it, it isn't so much a 10 kmh tolerance, as a discretionary area. Within the 100 - 110 kmh the cop has discretion as to whether or not to give a ticket. Above 110 he is supposed to give a ticket.

Fortunately, there are some members of our police force who can think for themselves rather than be told exactly what to do.

Ya reckon? I've always thought pricks like me are always gonna speed, and some folk will from time to time. The time to time ones will get a ticket or a warning and stop doing it, I'll just consider it bad luck, and carry on relying on my ability to choose where I can safely push the speed up a bit.

Plus 1 for ya Dan, agree that warnings like this can do more good. Reminders at the beginning of the season are far better than walking

And I wonder how much impact this thread has had on bikers speeds on Sh75 (well KBers speeds anyway) given that we all know Mr Rastuscat and colleagues will be lurking each weekend? Not much probably but I guess there'll be a few carrying donuts under the seat just in case.

thats not the point tho aye, sure Rasta's could be a publicity stunt he may not give a rats arse about us and I proved the point today that being all goodie to shoes can end ya up on ya arse the same way 'speed' is ment to, yes once the op Mataki is over Ill be back to my old ways, never caused harm in the past, but alas RC has a job to do, cant hassle him for that.
    cheers DD
