GPS tracked yep, and I've duly reported it as well. Mind you, our driver crew doesn't run around at 94 so the company has just left it as is

Yes when you pick a wheel up (radio controlled car works good) and accelerate the tyre deforms I know how your so called "centrifugal" force works, but once you put it on a road, with a normal force, things start changing dramatically.

I know a driver (not me) that got pinged for speeding ... and the cops asked to see the GPS log, and got him for logbook "issues" too.

We've had the reverse happen. Driver gets pinged for 107 or such, and GPS log shows he's sitting on 88. Never mind the fact the car overtaking him at the time was doing the 107...ticket was waived

GPS tracking on your vehicle only works for you if you behave....

GPS speeds shown in the log ... should have no direct connection with the speedo. Regardless of any inaccuracy of the speedo ???

I failed you all. I went over to Devauchelle this afternoon just cruising. I realised that on the straights after the black tulip and before Kaituna, I was only doing 95....... :sob:

and then, on the way back to town I got passed. By a Harley Sprotster. Rider not wearing gloves.

I have failed. I will of course be selling the bike and all the gear and taking up crochet.

the good news is that the street triple will do at least 40km from the fuel light coming on. and it only took 15.3 litres then. Reckon I might have got another 20 out of it at least.

Even if you are going down a very steep hill and your movement around the earths circumference is 100 but trig calcs would have you doing a true speed higher than the gps shows.

Does a GPS register distance calculated including verticle climb angles?

Most modern GPS units measure in 3 dimensions, not 2. I know all three of mine include altitude and position, 2 of them even give rate of climb.

In theory ... GPS measures across the Earths surface ... (the earth being round) so one may assume climbing/descending speeds are not entirely true.

Vehicle GPS tracking systems should be entirely reliant on Global positioning changes to log speed across the earths surface. Not repeating speedometer readings.
