    You completely missed my point.

The point was that Pilots have to develop a quick and efficient scan in order to fly safely, and within the rules.

Drivers need to do the same.

I wasn't saying that pilots face the same challenges as drivers, simply that they need to use similar skills.

It would never happen because the road users here consider it a godam god given right to drive a vehicle any way they can get away with. It's the mentality of the vehicle uses, not the training, not the roads and I include many motorcyclists in this group who believe they can drive as fast and as hard as they can as long as they don't get caught.

Why are there so few fcuk head licenced air craft pilots, why are there so few licenced fcuk head fire arms owners? Because using a aircraft or a firearm in a dangerous manner is a criminal act! It is far too easy to get a drivers licence in NZ and it is far too difficult for it to be taken away. We could also easily make speeding a criminal act and make the fines ten times the current level and speeding would simply dissapear overnight.

The way it came in could be argued for safety, the way it is now run is pure straight out scam with adverse affect to safety
That is certainly not what I have seen of the gorge, and I travel it quite a bit.

Makes replying redundant, since one of us is making an argument based on a mistake.

what about the people with no licenses, but guns, cars and access to light aircraft? :P

((i think training would go a LONG way to better drivers. i think if people were ticketed for infringements against the very basic "KEEP LEFT", we'd be halfway there...))

2002 Holden Rodeo 3ltr turbo DSL double cab in the high spec trim. Came from factory with 16 inch alloys and all of them read slow. I know, I got snapped by a speed camera at 111kph when I knew the bastard was there (thought I had been having a serious brain fart) then got caught by a cop at Cheviot. Had speedo checked and yep, reading 12kph slow at 100kph. Holden agreed, I wrote away including their letter and got off the second ticket.

I'm not usually one to welch, but I did say "with the right size tyres". Holden admitted to having the wrong tyres for the speedo calibration and drive.

I wouldn't want to blow him either I'll sort of let you off that one although I agree with you regarding speedometers. Most do read fast and in some cases up to 10% or more.

Oh dear Scummy guess its self-service again. Drew is now splitting hairs over the differentiation of 'right'. In most cases factory fitted is considered right, even in law in some cases. However I suspect this is a relieve (pun intended) to both of you.

Actually it surprises me that Drew is so willing to sit behind a vehicle doing 90 or less with its driver thinking they are doing 100 and determined to ensure that bloody biker doesn't break the law, not that Drew would This is the effect of the lack of tolerance and advertising.

i would suggest that if you review your own attitude and behaviour towards the Police and Societal rules in general... methinks my comment is self explanatory.

You know, I just about would. Especially if your mate John Hadfield aka Hone Harawira was going to be your deputy PM. You guys would be awesome. I would sit on my balcony in Maloolaba and cheer as the smell of burning wafted across the water.
