I got stuck behind a truck for a min there yesterday then he pulls out into the oncoming lane so I can safely pass up the inside. There was a bit of a layby on his right if he had to bail. Gave him a big wave, couldn't believe it. I had already passed him previously, before pulling over for a drink so wasn't expecting any favours.

...time and motion are relevant, but yes, the lake flies...your Mountain Thunder T shirt is still sitting in my office but that is totally irrelevant to time, tide or flies...

Sure does. Come down here during a strong nor-wester and watch the water from Lake Dunstan being blown over the Clyde dam. At times when downstream of the dam it's impossible to see the sky through the water flying overhead.

It's ok ... as I understand, the dam is designed to take a meter of water over the top ...

When you need gumboots and a waterproof jacket to work in your (nice warm) office ... you may complain.

Until then ... harden up ...

Lake Flies suck arse. Man those things stink.

Once I had the idea of doing a Spring night run to Little River - I had to stop and clean the headlights as they were so covered in lake flies that they were bloody useless. And the radiator needed cleaning out when I got home.

    There's a topic.

It appears to have morphed somewhat from Op Mataki, but that's life.

I'm over it. Lake flies anyone?

...they are exactly the same fly that the people around Lake Victoria in Africa get their protein from...they collect them in wet frying pans and get really excited when the horrible things come out to play...living with them, the flies, is a bit of a prick...we wouldn't dare leave a window or door open in the evenings with a light burning inside, although some new people to the area have not heeded the advice at times...only once though...they are part and parcel of living near the lakes on 75...as annoying as the rossi's who inhabit it during the warmer months, therefore close to topic ...

So basically you are calling RC a disease ridden annoying insect.
