    Da Cat.

Be safe as you do a great thing for a worthy cause. I spent 12 years escorting an annual 1000 km 14 day cycle tour here as they raised money for childrens cancer research and a summer camp. Watch out for the drivers who are not paying attention. I had several close calls every tour. They may not deliberatetly be out to get you, but it hurts just the same.

I'm on a silver 1200RT wearing a neon yellow helmet. Throw donuts, not eggs.

Any update on the accident on SH75 near Kaituna on Sunday 10th in the early afternoon ?

The Newspaper only gave an outline of what occurred, 3 people and 2 bikes and serious injuries to everyone involved.

Shit. I got back to work today after a few days off. Didn't hear any talk of a crash out there.

    Will check tomorrow.

ok you bunch a nosie buggers LOL... all I know is it 'could' have been a head on, off road style a bike limited gears being worn and they were hiding the injured behind a blanket... maybe 'asume' it was a bit messy.
    cheers DD

I too was riding SH75 between 12pm-3pm that Sunday. Didn't see any crash but hope the riders are ok.

If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.

Spounds like a fatal when they shield the injured and multiple Police responders. Hope not.

Section 118 of the LTA requires the registered person (RP) to supply the riders details, or information that could lead to the riders identification. It's not enough to just say sorry Popo, I don't know his name.

Tickets can be posted to the RP for speed camera offences up to 50 over, and red light offences. Parking offences too, and reg and WoF type offences, but those are called Stationary Vehicle Infringement Notices, or SVIONs.

The processes are very specific, but people often confuse the systems. If I had a donut for every time someone makes a complaint to me and just wants me to post out an ION, I'd be a lardy arse Popo who wouldn't fit on a bike. Matters not able to be dealt with by SVIONs and approved vehicle surveillance equipment (speed cams, red light cams, and in some towns bus lane cams), have to be dealt with by Section 118. It's a pain in the arse, and often they just get ignored due to the low chance of finding the offender.

In the real world, it can also depend on how busy the Popos are. Hit and miss at times.
So what is the process if our 178 friend had legged it?

    Traffic Offence Notice?

To be honest, can you even read a plate going by at 180?

Unluckily for you you are in a no win situation.

I guess the question is, although those five guys think you are a good bastard, did their speeds change after having a chat? I doubt it, in fact they probably now think that the tolerance has increased to whatever speed you got them at.
I've had more "chats" than tickets.

Every time, chat or ticket, I've taken it as a wake-up call and noticed that I've started getting a bit dumb.

Keeps me in self check for another 6 months or so....
