However once it had warmed up I started to get that dreadful blue smoke coming out of the head breather hose, and exhaust.

so this means I have either a blown head gasket, warpped head, stuffed rings or hopefully the easiest to fix, I didn't bolt the head down with enough torque, anyone know foe certain what the head bolt torque should be for one of these bikes? currently it is at 20 Nm
Don't panic yet. After engine work ... it may do that. All sorts of shit in places that gather it ...

Take it for a short ride and look again at it at idle.

Ya it would be nice if that were the case but I was get positive pressure out of the rocker breather hose rather than positive & negative pulses, my mate is hardness testing it and, assuming it isn't soft will be checking it for being straight

head has been tested, it is both hard and straight, so good news there, anyone got an idea on how to check if the rings are still sealing, or is it just a case of take them out and measure rings and bore?

Just put the head on and do a compression and a leak down test...
