That's just passing the ... "not my fault" ... buck ... Those who ride absolute crap without (a) checking it is safe before using it for extended periods of time. And (b) those that ride absolute crap knowing full well its is crap, without (any intention of) getting anything fixed ... that needs fixed.
It's thanks to those lazy pricks ... any changes to legislation are made in this regard. I have heard that WoF checks could be changed to 12 month periods for all vehicles ... but if the vehicle fail rate increases ... it either wont happen .... Or ... will be changed back to 6 months. The number of vehicles issued tickets by the donut munchers for unsafe vehicles will have influence on this too.

Interestingly, the vehicle checks are 12 monthly in UK, (or were when I lived there). In view of the incredibly fast salt enhanced corosion in UK this always struck me as the wrong way around for NZ / UK.
[That is spelt c-o-r-o-s-i-o-n ... a largely unknown phenomenon in Central Otago!]

So, I'm in Japan now. I could easily buy several scooters but am wondering if it wouldreally be worth sending them to NZ.
