    You are so right . The British did use mongrel threads. My father was a fitter and turner , engineer and a development engineer but more importantly he was a magpie..He saved anything that maybe of use in the future and I inherited most of it.A lot I sent gave to the vintage car society but i have retained as much as i have room to store.

    I have some cycle thread taps and dies,they were going to throw them out at a bicycle I worked at,and I think you need an early american twin lol.
