They say they're "looking for" the de-reg papers in Japan.
Hope they find them, otherwise the bike's never able to be registered in NZ.

I had a long think about it, and a talk with SWMBO. Ive decided that I am not quite in the position to buy it. Blahdeblah. etc. Short reason is the appalling year last year (thanks earthquakes) which has only just started to come right.
Using my superannuation money to buy it seems a bit frivolous, essentially.
I still have the green light to buy another bike, just not to spend quite that much money. I'm comfortable with that.
One day, though....
Also, we spectacularly failed to win Powerball yesterday. We all know thats my real retirement plan.

I did that to buy a near new RS125 Honda (and won a NZ GP), then sold it and used the money towards a house depo, so not all bad...But that was a few years ago now....
That was the reason I got approval to buy my OW01
OW's and RC's. Truth be told, they are all 20+ years old so, they all have the foibles now. Especially if not used on a (semi) regular basis. Finding a perfect one is very rare and they were all built to be raced, so many were for some reason(!).
Quite often it is now the case of if you want one and you are in the market, picking the best one available. Only the market might only have one available...so you don't always get a lot of choice.
Funnily enough, Honda has stopped making some parts for them.
I do know a guy in the UK who has 23 RC's!! Never been to his house - maybe next time I'm up there I will, as another mate lives not too far away and they know each other.
The Yanks know what they are worth so trying to pick one up there cheap would be hard work, especially as they never had many, only for a year or so. Only about 90-91 when they'd already been production for 2-3 years.

this will soon be in the same collectible field, at a fraction of the price
remember the Gobert Go show Days, Russell, Crafer , that all rode these.
Very very nice bike. I'd be half tempted on that one myself.
I was at Sawyers in Adelaide road the night back in the 90's when we celebrated Aaron's WSB races and he was gifted an NC35 if that is what you are talking about. It looked kinda like the RC45 of the day but sure it is only a 400.
If he was given any other bikes I wasn't around when that happened.

I think RC30 or OW01 or ZX-RR and think of the race bikes....seeing one of these in lethargic street trim leaves me strangely unmoved. It's like seeing a thoroughbred pulling a carriage for wedding couples, sure it can do it easily but that's not what it's built for.
Given the budget, I'd much rather have a beat up full house race bike, every nick/scratch telling a story...but each to their own.
It's still just another jap bike at the end of the day.
Riding cheap crappy old bikes badly since 1987

yes true, but look at the 70's japa's... geting old getting dear, getting colectable and yes are classics, so ya wont be able to say that for much longer.
cheers DD
