I AM STILL AN ELECTRICIAN AND I AM STILL A MOTORCYCLIST whether or not I currently own a motorcycle!

What part of that don't you understand?
Erm. All of it. But keep shouting as I am sure it will sink in.

I am also an electrician by trade. Does this mean if I decide to get a job gardening I am no longer an electrician?
I'm getting a bit confused again...does this mean I can wave back to people on Spyders?

I met an ex-cop last wk who has a trike rego'ed as a tractor & doesn't have to wear a lid. (But he does)

Mind you, he's not allowed on highways & can't travel after dusk...

I will, but as you're from Dunedin I'm sure it will take a while.

I would, in your position, but then I am a motorcyclist regardless of what I'm riding/driving.

What's more, If I was riding a Spyder I would still wave to you.

Not to add fuel to the fire and apologies for the really poor photo but I had to think of this thread when I saw this in a bike dealers in Townsville (QLD).
This was the local Kwaka, Triumph and Can Am dealer, note the four wheeled conveyances on the right hand side of the photo...

I don't wave or nod to other bikes. I wave and nod to the RIDERS - even if they are on a Honda, a Harley, a converted motorcycle trike or a Can-Am Spyder. Even if they wear a German helmet and have gang patches. All riders get a courtesy acknowledgement from me.

We're all riders, what we choose to ride is just a personal choice.

Having posted and read this thread all through, it really is indicative as to why riders of motorcycles in this country will get, and will continually get shafted by TPTB. We cant even get on within our own ranks, just because I don't like what you ride, harley, honda, cam am, cruiser, etc, etc. We deserve everything Gubbermints can get away with laying on us. I think someone in another thread made the comment along the lines of,, We, those here right now, will one day soon look back and say to ourselves, BUGGER! right then we COULD have made a difference if we'd stopped bickering and posturing. Read the European proposed regulation's, our bikes already conform to EU noise specs, because EU IS the biggest market. it's coming, and like a possum caught in headlights, its going to run us over.

At least I will be able to look back on the memories of a long and enjoyable biking lifetime.

Every definition I look up of 'motorcycle' describes them as a 'powered two wheeled vehicle'. So that excludes Can Ams and other trikes.

    what a thread! lol..

motorcycle is surely recognized as powered 2 wheel machine, sometimes fitted with a sidecar with its own wheel.. it still a motorcycle with single front wheel for steering and single drive wheel at the rear and pretty much front and rear inline with each other but with the addition of a sidecar attached to the side of the bike though.

tricycle is a 3 wheeled unit, diff to a motorcycle/sidecar in that they have 2 front or 2 rear wheels inline and a 3rd wheel in the middle. either driving a single wheel at the back and steering with 2 at the front or vice versa.

since can ams, spyder things, trikes, do not have a front and rear wheel inline with an offset sidecar/third wheel. So they are not motorcycles or motorcycle with sidecar - but im sure you can call em all tricycles. since they have 3 wheels and still use bike controls like handlebars, handlebar twist throttle.

and a 3 wheeled car would/could be very similar to a tricycle but with car controls, a steering wheel/pedals.

all the extra shit about waving or not waving.. who gives a f*ck lol
