If its got a motorcycle engine its a motorcycle in my mind.

People say a 14.1 hand horse is a pony and i shouldnt ride it with me being a guy but its still a horse and he has put alot of people and there 17 hand 1/2 clyde things to shame when it comes to climing around hills.

The point i was making is that some people think that people on anything other than 2 wheels dont desurve to be on the road or respected reguardless of cercomstance

Oh and I ride/rode it, so I have no fucking talent or balls either! better sell the ZZR1100 and MT-01, to someone WITH balls eh? Hey, I am not the enemy here! I am fence sitting re whether a Spyder is a bike or not, and anyway,
I have ridden one & pillioned on one & my mate has one & I like it!
I am also on record as saying that I do not actually want one!
Oh, & I even wave to Harleys at times! LOL

A three wheeled vehicle obviously can't be a motorbike because the word "bike" specifically refers to the number two.
There is no such reference to any number in the word "motorcycle", so a three wheeled vehicle is not automatically excluded.

Nobody claimed the Morgan was a motorcycle, it definitely isn't. Since we were discussing three wheelers though, I just thought I'd mention I'd love one. There's just sixty thousand reasons why I haven't got one. Yet.

*sigh* I meant Morgan's...whether motorcycle-engined or not...don't have handlebars, therefore are even less bike-like than a Spider.

This whole subject is getting painful.

Just what is the problem with Spyders? The attitude is the important thing here, and it is generally the SAME fecking attitude that has anyone ride ON an exposed motorised contraption...no matter how many wheels it is.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

I think we have two groups on this thread, one who thinks spyders are "gay" and so are the riders and the second purely interested in the classification of spyders ie are they a motorbike or aren't they.

    No No Cookie Boy -
There are more than two groups...
    1. Spyders are gay (as distinct from 'ghey' which is reserved for Hondas)
    2. Spyders are NOT motorcycles
    3. They are.
    4. They share some/lots of the traits of a (proper) motorcycle
    5. Seatbelts define what is/isn't a car
    6. We wave to anyone/only what we ride/Spyders/no-one (esp. not Harleys)
    7. None of the above
    8. I'm going home AND I'm taking my ball with me...

    Theyre a MOTORCYCLE

I Agree with a lot of the comments that a Spyder is a motorcycle I treat them as such and wave to them .... I wave to any bike no matter what make (yep even Harley's) and respect their choice of make and model and that's the reason they make so many "styles" of bike..... I prefer the Cruiser and would never consider buying a sporty one but that's my personal choice/preference.

I have a mate that has had both knees replaced, he has a Bandit but now cant hold it up so stopped riding and gone into withdrawal, I suggested a Spyder as it stays up, is stylish and would cater for his medical situation.
My wife wants a Spyder, she is semi paralyzed and cant hold up a bike, and as she only has a car license cant (because of her medical condition) go through the progression of licenses to get to the full one. So in her (and many liker her) case, a Spyder is a bike of choice (and necessity)

And because we all have "preferences" of the type of wheels we ride ..... aren't we ... regardless of the throbbing monster between our legs ..... STILL BIKERS

The "Bikers" vehicle of choice may differ ... attitudes may differ too. Even what you must wear varies too.

But the "Biker philosophy" of wind in the face, bugs in the teeth, dampness when it rains ... and the open road freedom ... all remain the same.

What a biker is ... is in your own head.

Hear hear. And here, for good measure.

Why do so few supposed-bikers actually understand that. Could it be they are pretentious posers...?

there are a whole big heap of those on this forum eh, posers

I agree with you FJ, it is about what is in you own head.
And about respecting another s bikers choice of ride, what ever the ride is or the reasons for riding it
