    The RC30 on tardme

    http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/moto...-512947620.htm

Hmmmmmmmmmm. If I thought I could own it for $20k, I just about would.

I thought all Japan spec ones were restricted so the claim of "Full power" seems odd.

and the question mark around road registration.

Pluses: rear wheel. And the Ohlins out of my NC30 would fit it which is longer to allow the ride height to be jacked (mine has the same modification: 17 inch rear wheel, longer shock).

I really fucking want one, and while $20k is a lot of coin, it would be do-able with some domestic consequences.

I know some of you are RC30 gurus and owners, what do you think?

Not very keen on responses that are along the lines of "Buy a gixxer for half the price" or "Hondas are gay": I know Hondas are gay, but so am I. In fact I am so gay I am Takei.

While I can't add anything to the thread, if I had the money I'd own one in a heart beat. Lusted after RC30's since I was a school boy.

The tank decal, the French flag on the fairing, the square white mirrors, and the small headlights make me think that this is a Euro-spec bike that has been re-imported to Japan, possibly an ex-IGOL endurance racer put back on the road. The Fairing has been resprayed with the Dzus fasteners in place and that carbon pipe looks like half of the twin pipe setup the last of the RC30's ran.

    The RVF decal isn't right.

Something doesn't ring true with it at all.

It's too cheap and the papers aren't right. Ask him if it sounds like a bucket full of nails in a washing machine at idle. If it doesn't then it may need head work. If he hasn't started it up, then you can guess what I think of that.

Ask what the frame number is. Ask for the engine number. If they don't match it's an ex-race bike. Not necessarily a bad thing, but that bike is ringing my alarm bells, especially the paperwork anomaly.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

Yeah, thats what I was thinking. If its too good to be true....... I will ask. For $20k I would fly up to wangers to hear it running before parting with the coin.

I'd tap one. As long as Mrs B did not catch me .....

20k NZ - I wonder if you could score a USA version for less? - as in fly to the USA, buy the bike - ship it back and have change from NZ$20k.

Just wondering, it is very, very easy for me to spend your $20k bawahahahaha

    Oh clean my undies!

Wonder what the factory gift in Slighty's shed would be worth then.

John Boot he of 1970 TZ750 fame had a brand new never ridden one that was always at Whiting Honda in CHCH for years.
He was i understand a bit of a punter on future classics.

    Wonder where is it now?

Last i heard of him he was a property developer with commercial building in CHCH.

I always lusted after one, that and a 955 Corsa.

Slight's bike was no factory gift. They refused to give him one so he bought it from the UK Honda Team (according to his book).

Often wondered if he still has it.
