Does anybody know the process of buying one of those very late model ZXR250's from Aus and shipping it here to NZ?

    Wasn't this a thread on 250 prices?

I was fairly lucky. My bike was still 5500 but it had low k's and was mint. The guy said he could've sold it for 8000 (so he says). Shame I had to go and wreck it

In Palmy North the other day, i saw a CBR with 80,000ks for 5500, next to it was a ZXR with 60,000ks for 5500. Also at TSS, they have the worst looking CBR I have ever seen, crappy fairings, rusty, 80,000ks, still it was 5500!!!!

How much is a good RGV nowadays? I'm looking at trading in the CBR whilst the engine is still going and has some value for a RGV250 and a RG150

My friend has an RGV250 its an 89 mint condition and has 25,000kms on the clock hes has it for a month and paid $3500 for it.
Why get a 250cc motorbike for $5000 when you can get a automatic scooter. A mate got a gillera Runner for $900 three weeks ago and it does 0-100 faster than a wrx its you bolt on a farbrizi kit $2.5k for everything including labour you will have a scooter that puts out 33hp at the rear wheel and does 170km/hr and because its an automatic its alwase in power.
Only a man who knows what it is like to be defeated can reach down to the bottom of his soul and come up with the extra ounce of power it takes to win when the match is even.

simple example of supply & demand isn't it? The manufacturers haven't made new race-rep 250's (e.g. ZXR, CBR, GSX-R) for a few years, so there aren't many coming in from Japan anymore. They may not be litre sportbikes, but they go fast enough and crash hard enough, leaving fewer and fewer behind...

If I was starting all over again, I would have gone for one of the "sub-250" learner legal bikes like the FXR150 or RG150. They're good value for money and reasonably priced. TwoSmoker started out on an RG150 and it has hardly slowed him down (hell it's probably responsible for him getting up to speed so fast).

to the old 81 RD250LC, sure needed a few more hundred spent for a top end rebuild. But I respect that bike, no taking the yammyfart on the MX track to kill it (but it was fun to do it to my old GN250 ).
