    Knee guards/braces

At the moment I have your standard cheap $30-50ish knee guards but since I was looking at ordering a tyre from Torpedo 7 I stumbled across those links below which while not your full on knee braces seem to be a grade better than what I have

    http://www.torpedo7.co.nz/products/E...nee-shin-guard

    http://www.torpedo7.co.nz/products/6...orce-kneeguard

Does anyone have experience with either of these products and can recommend one or the other or say neither are much better than standard ones?

Unfortunately I have a deadline of tomorrow to decide as I need to give them time to make sure I get the new tyre before the weekend's racing

Haven't heard anything about the Strata but have a mate who's been racing with the older version of those Thor's for 4+ years now and has just gone out and bought a second pair to replace them with, he loves them as compared to a standard knee shin guard.

I've got the RS8's that they are clearing for $329 a pair and I like them, the whole walking in knee braces is a bit hard to get used to initially but now I feel naked riding without them - much like a neck brace. And touch wood, I haven't managed to tweak aknee with them on yet

These are bullet proof, mine are black, but they have lasted for years.

I do like the Thor Force ones.
Got mine 2nd hand for more than they're going for new now.

The only issue is if you're not wearing brace length socks, the top of the bottom stretchy velcroy thingy can bite in to the back of your knee after a few hours.

I don't know about any of the others but i have had the Pod k700 for 2 or 3 years now.

Couldn't say a bad thing about them. I can walk and move in them like they are not there.

I have crashed many a times in them (i have a bad habit of landing on my knees) and I have never had another knee injury since I started wearing them.

Thanks all for input. Fortunately one of my mates has offered to give me his thor forces so I only had to order the tyre.

If you get the thor make sure you get a good pair of brace socks or i wear a old pair or full leg running skines after about an hour of ridding using the knee gard i had cuts of the back of my legs from the straps.

Cut the feet off a pair of old long socks.
Works well as arm warmers too.

(The legs of the socks, not the feet )
