    Accidents

I've been trying to find anyone out there who has had a similiar experience to me. About five months ago, I crashed into a guy who was coming towards me on my side of the road in Taipei. I was on my scooter and came off, and in doing so broke both my femures, my knees, my anke, my foot and my shoulder. I have had to undergo over seven serious operations and am now begining to start walking again with the aide of crutches. It has been an increadibly full on time for me and my family and friends, and im still in a huge amount of pain.
It is quite probable that I will never regain the use of my right leg in any normal fashion and it seems definite that I will never be able to touch my head with my right hand or do any kind of shoulder movement ever again. I have beeen looking for people who have also had serious accidents like this but haven't been able to find anyone! It seems to me that usually people who sustain this kind of injury die. Any clues of where i could find people to chat with about this kind of thing?
In all seriousness, i never thought that this kind of thing could happen. I would do anything not to have been on a bike and to not have gone through this experience. For what was fun for awhile has quite possibly destroyed my life. Is it really worth riding bikes for this?

Whoaaa....negative shit. Bikering *can* be a lottery, but we still line up for our ticket/fix.
Sorry to hear your experience was a bad one, but you can still enjoy the camaraderie here, mate.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

theres dangers in any sport, and theres always the unlucky ones such as yourself who come unstuck and get injured, it shouldn't be a reason to give up, and don't accept can't, theres new technology coming through all the time, who knows, tommorow there might be some big revolutionary way in which they will be able to rebuild your shoulder etc. don't give up, and although you're probably scared now, give it a bit of time and see if you can't get back into biking, just think back to how much fun it was up until some idiot cager ruined it for you!

    Cool

Sorry to hear about your accident.

But accidents can happen anytime or anywhere, whether it be on a m/bike or scooter.
Heck even riding a horse can be dangerous.. Superman - Chris Reeves came off a horse... but continued to do stuff right up until his death. He didnt allow the accident to put him off the love of horses. There is that woman in NZ who also came off a horse.... she strongly believes in herself that she will walk again. She also got back onto a horse again.

As someone said pm "Onearmedbandit" he would be a good person to chat to.

You can have serious injuries in driving a car if you crash - does that stop you from driving again... nope.
Walking across the road - you could get hit - you will still walk across the road when you get up an walking again.

Try not allow yourself to feel so negative about m/bikes.
Every rider, no matter where they are in the world knows the risk of riding.

Keep working on getting your arm to work better. Dont give up.
    Healing takes time.

    Arrow Dude.

Sorry to hear about your accident. Never broke a bone, touch wood. But have had left sided road rash over my body. After 6 years though I had the urge to be on a bike again I hope you recover mich better than expected

Sorry to hear about your accident. But I'm puzzled as to why you've joined this forum, if you are anti-bike?

Mate I feel for you after what you've been through. As people have said it could have so easily happened from another cause. Life is a series of trials. I've said many times on here that bad things happen for a reason, but something good always comes out of it. Perhaps for you it will be the strength of character to overcome these injuries and take your life in a whole new direction. Whilst I understand your need to talk to people who have had similar accidents/injuries, I would urge you to steer clear of any people who have a very negative outlook. A good state of mind and a positive attitude will be the most beneficial in your recovery. Instead of telling yourself and others that you might not be able to have full use of your leg etc, try saying to yourself every day that you WILL be better. I've seen some amazing recoveries due to positive attitude.

I wish you all the best for a full recovery. Whether you ever get back on a bike again or not is up to you. Whatever decisions you make I hope they will make you happy - that's all that anyone can ask.

sorry to read what you went thru. My bro had a crash at the beginning of the year and is still having problems now. I wish he hadn't had any accident at all, but we knew/know the risks when you get on the bike. If you don't want to risk yourself, don't get on a bike. You could get hit crossing the road.. then what? gonna just stay in bed just in case? If you enjoy something, you do it. If there's a risk involved, get over it or don't do it..

Best of luck in your recovery.

Yeah, I make that decision every time I ride. If something happens I'll have to try my best to live as I did before hand. Thats all you can do.
