    carb settings for bike?

    just wondering i live high up on mt taranaki/egmont (to keep you all happy)
    and my dr250 wont start ive had it to the bike shop twice and they say they found somthing wrong each time but it goes for awhile then just wont start and i have to pull the plug out give it a clean and somtimes it will go sometimes not.
    so not sure what wrong but ive given up on the shop.
    i mentioned to the mechanic that ive noticed our eiger dosn't run aswell as it did when we were on a farm by the beach and wondered if the high altitude
    we are on will affect my bikes, he said i was a dumb cunt basiclly. and that wouldnt be a problem.
    i read that altering the needle in different altitudes can make a bike run better to the conditions,
    so does the higher altitude make a bike run lean or rich?
    i think lean as the oxygen content is less,(am i right?
    so will i lifht the clip on the needle or lower it?
    or tell me if i should leave it and try another mechanic,
    ive already spent heaps on them so want to try myself.

    You'd have to be pretty high up. But it does happen, I've experienced it more than once going up Mr Ruapehu.

    I think that , as you say, the air has less oxygen, so effectively the air flow is reduced. Like a blocked air filter. So it would be running rich, but it's also going to have less power even if the mixture was right. Sort of a negative supercharging. Two strokes seem more affected for some reason.

    being up will create the bike to run richer, due to less oxygen. it depends how high you are but you can't rule it out.

    is the bike undercover?

    and what about moisture is there alot of dew up there. and how cold is it up there. may cause electrical issues with moisture.

    those are just some things to rule out.

    hopefu;;y have the parts for my road bike by the weekend so i might be able to go riding by the weekend.

    i was using the bike today on the farm. then i came home turned it off for about 10 mins then went to ride off again and it just wouldn't start,
    then i think i flooded it and was stuffed.
    so i think it might be electrical maybe as fuel is getting in there as the plug wet an black when i remove it.
    i got a new battery for it last week so do you think if i charge it up it will make a difference,
    does a weak battery make the plug spark less when you try to start it?
