Arrow Any Bike Couriers out there?

I am bored with working in a bar and I got asked to work for sub60 when I was hanging at scooterworld, I go in for ride with someone on the 15th and 16th. And I can start on the 17th they said no matter what I earn they will top it up to $650 a week but after about 2-3weeks when I got a hang of it I should be getting $800 plus for a 45hour week, And because I am contracting I can claim all my business expences for example my petrol and any matinace cost of my bike, My account said if I do it right I can even claim tax on my race bike just put my name on it and its advertising. So basicly I was wondering how ture this is are there any Couriers out there or has any one done courier work before that can anwser these questions?

All I can say is trust your accountant- they are paid to know these things.

A friend who works as a cycle courier said that the top guys at his work can earn up to $70k per year.
I'd imagine that you'd have to work really hard to earn that sort of money though.

Cool, $70k a year, now 1/2 of that goes on tax (12.5% GST, 33% provincial tax, ACC costs, fuel tax) so now its $35k. You will do about 200-250 Ks a day, inner city express, so $30 per day, $150 per week $600 per month $7,200 per year. Of which you get 12.5% back.
After a year your bikes naked, unless you get hit, then its less than a year!
You do 10+ hours a day, no breaks, but some weekend work.
Lots of tyres, chains, sprockets, oil, indicators, mirrors, etc, etc...
Don’t get too attached to your licence!
One good ticket and you can right the next 2-3 days earnings off!
If you enjoy being cold and wet you will love it! Your wet weather is worth too much! And you have to be able to run in the leathers you wear!
No sick days, even if you are sick you have to work! They do have relief drivers but YOU have to pay for them!
I could go on but if you are serious about it go over it with an accountant and talk to people who have done it (me) and are still doing it(not me, yay), you will find very diffrent storys!
It’s not all that bad! Some days I miss it!
