Try KazzaLITE, has spyware and pop-ups removed (supposedly)
Otherwise try downloading Mirc. Its free, and you use search engines like IRCSPY.com and Packetnews.com. When you find a link to the song/album you want on either of those sites, click on it and it opens MIRC automatically. Its really good for downloading full albums. (so I am told by people who do this sort of thing)

YOu can search on a directory and download the whole directory, which means you can get an album at a time.

I've been using WinMX for about a year now, I'm not aware of any spy-ware issues at all (I run both Spybot and Ad-aware, and neither have any problem with WinMX).

Very reliable connections, and good user-friendly controls. Very occasionally searches are a bit hit-or-miss, if I get poor results I usually wait a few minutes and try again.

Using limewire at the mo, but if you really dont mind paying, itunes has a music store incorporated. Songs US$0.99 each from memory. A bit dear considering you're not buying anythng physical i.e. CD case, little book with song lyrics etc.
    .....is the answer

Kazaalite, not adware/spyware. If anyone wants it just PM me and I'll get it on disc out to you.

Shareaza (www.shareaza.com) - free, no ads, open source and uses all the networks (Gnutella 1(Kazza) and Gnutella 2, torrents, edonkey. So you don't have to run multiple programs to search and DL.
