    Newby - second time lucky

Well after officially joining this site four years ago, all excited and pumped to be joining the motorcycling crazy kids (first post here) I finally today sat my BH cert and learners test, took procession of a mates Ginny 250 on a long term loan, and have ventured out on my first two wobbly laps of my street before getting the shits up me as a couple of cars over took me quite close as I was putting along rather slowly and so headed back home.....!!

I think a heap of practice will be in order over the next few months, Mitre 10 Mega Lunn Ave's big car park which is at the end of my road will be taking a hammering soon. Anyone cruising around the Ellerslie/Mt Wellington area and sees a mighty GN250 wobbling around be sure to give a friendly wave

Here is to the start of a hopefully painless life long love affair

Good luck with the practice. Nice to see you're not afraid to acknowledge your short comings. Don't be scared to ask questions. You might get some shit thrown at you but once you filter that out you'll get answers that will be usefuk

Good luck buddy.I have only just started learning on my bike as well even though I bought it about a month ago.I joined this site years ago ready to get a CBR haha.
I think even that road just below Mount Wellington, where the pit was, they've built new houses on the front but towards the back you can see empty roads would be a good place to learn for a long ride using the gears.I didn't see any houses on those roads last time I was up the mountain scoping the landscape for spots haha.
What color is your GN?I sometimes frequent there and if I see you I'll give you a wave.

Yeah, plenty of car park practice before you head out onto the roads is a very good idea. I practiced in the car park for about 10-12 hours over two weeks before venturing out on to the roads. Main things are clutch/throttle control, turning, braking, U-turns, etc.

When you get on the road, indicating, checking mirrors, looking over shoulders, looking where you want to go,... these habits must be developed to keep you alive.
