That's a pretty weak round an comperable with the type of things the cops use.Well it totaly destroyed the front end of that deer and I'm sure that if you'd seen the damage done you'd change your mind on the "rather be shot" statement. The thing I keep in mind when it comes to Tazers is that it's not me that's going to be zapped with one anyway.
Those that do get zapped probably need it.
I don't actually want to be shot, but given how my life works if I ever got tazered (probably will just by being within 20 ft of a Cop armed with one accidentally discharging) my heart would probably stop and then restart the wrong way and fill my lungs with blood, meanwhile the electrical shock will generate a nice big seizure causing me to bite my tongue off and fry the right side of my brain completely.

Please shoot me. In the head. With the biggest, fastest round you can muster.

I think the Tazer's are overall a good call, and I wouldn't deny a Cop the right to defend him or herself, but I think that there will quite a few more deaths from using them than people will be expecting.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

this really fucks me off sometimes.. how come everyone remembers the Abu Garib prison.. the colatteral damage ( simple.. move out of the war zone) and everything else.. but no-one remembers those American contractors who were burned, dismembered and hung from the bridge, or the 241 of my brothers who died in Lebanon in '83, trying to help out the @#$ PLO? (that was my unit btw..ask me about trying to piece together your best mate so his mom could have something to bury)
how come it is acceptable to behead people and post the vid on the net?..why is it ok to drive a truck bomb into a crowd of children getting lollies from a US Marine and kill 25 of them to get 1 Marine?
i never said that all Arabs are terrorists.. but im willing to bet that there ARE quite a few of them in and around NZ and that the Muslim community is aware of them.

    fuckin animals
Since 1990 Iraq has gone from having the highest standard of living in the Middle East to being a war torn hell-hole vergeing on anarchy.
All thanks to the Bush's, particularly George Dubya's oedipal complex.
A fact that most Americans will not accept is that most of the Muslim world and a good part of the rest loathe them. The reasons are many and varied, but one of the biggest is their unquestioning support of Israel's oppression of the Palestinians. This, surprise surprise, is why the insurgents continue to function effectively in Iraq.
Rather than act as the Sherrif of the World, America should try and learn how other nations think.
In the meantime they are in a sandy Vietnam, and we all know what happened there.

Ever wondered why there was no resistance to Allied occupation in Germany or Japan after '45.
Could it be due to an enlightened and sympathetic attitude by the Allies to a defeated enemy?

if you will notice in a previous post, i stated that i was involved with the UN Multinational force in Beruit Lebenon in 1983. we were there to HELP the PLO get out of Beruit because they were effectivly cut off and getting a hiding from the Isrealis.

after the truck bomb killed 241 of my brothers, Then-President Regan sent word that we were NOT to engage in combat actions against ANYONE because " we are not sure who is responsible" (still to this day we are not positive, but alot of evidence is pointing towards Iran, ISREAL or the PLO.)

the US acts as the police force for the world because it is our responsibility as the only remaining superpower to do so. the UN is corrupt, Europe is splintered, and Russia's army is starving.

i got here September 18, 2001..on the News that night.. Auntie Helen announced that she was disbanding the combat wing of the RNZAF

    good call Helen

im not here to get into a Shit-Fight with anyone about this.. i am just stating a well informed opinion

BTW While I basically support the use of Tazers, I wonder how people would feel if one of their loved ones was zapped and died. There are plenty of people that lose their rag for whatever reason that don't deserve to die for it.
130 deaths last year in the States as a result of Tazer use.
Will our cops be trained in Tazer use as well as they are to use Glocks?
Where do you get the figure of 130? Amnesty International states 103 between June 2001 & March 2005 for the US & Canada

Looks like the report I saw had the figures transposed.

Meh, the pathetic combat wing that we had would not be able to stop an invasion of Amish terrorists let alone an attack from any major party. Its the same for the pathetic list of ships the navy has.

New Zealanders are pretty much cannon fodder with the equipment they do or don't have.

Well, 103 over 5 years is better than 130 in 1 year!

well, back to a more serious note, this just happened to arrive in my inbox today, quite topical I thought a bit long but worth a read.

    My First Taser Experience

My wife is fond of saying that my last words on this earth will be something akin to "Well, I have out done myself once again." No doubt you will see this true story chronicled in a Lifetime movie in the near future.
    Here goes...

Last weekend I spied something at the pawn shop that tickled my fancy. (Note: Keep in mind that my "fancy" is easily tickled). I bought something really cool for my wife. The occasion was our 18th anniversary and I was looking for a little something extra for my sweet girl.

What I came across was a 100,000-volt, pocket/purse-sized Taser gun with a clip. For those of you who are not familiar with this
product, it is a less-than-lethal stun gun with two metal prongs designed to incapacitate an assailant with a shock of high-voltage, low
amperage electricity while you flee to safety. The effects are supposed to be short lived with no long-term adverse affect on your assailant, but allowing you adequate time to retreat to safety.

You simply jab the prongs into your 250 lb. tattooed assailant, push the button, and it will render him a slobbering, goggle-eyed,
muscle-twitching, whimpering, pencil-neck geek. If you've never seen one of these things in action, then you're truly missing out--way too cool!

Long story short, I bought the device and brought it home. I loaded two AAA batteries in the darn thing and pushed the button. Nothing! I was so disappointed. Upon reading the directions (we don't need no stinkin' directions), I found much to my chagrin that this particular model would not create an arch between the prongs. How disappointing! I do love fire for effect. I learned that if I pushed the button, however, and pressed it against a metal surface that I'd get the blue arch of electricity darting back and forth between the prongs that I was so looking forward to. I did so. Awesome! Sparks, a blue arch of electricity, and a loud pop!

    Yipeeeeee!

I'm easily amused, just for your information, but I have yet to explain to her what that burn spot on the face of her microwave is.

Okay, so I was home alone with this new toy, thinking to myself that it couldn't be all that bad with only two AAA batteries, etc., etc. There I sat in my recliner, my dog looking on intently (trusting little soul), reading the directions (that would be me, not the dog) and thinking that I really needed to try this thing out on a flesh and blood target.

I must admit I thought about zapping the dog for a fraction of a second and thought better of it. He is such a sweet pup, after all. But, if I was going to give this thing to my wife to protect herself against a mugger, I did want some assurance that it would work as advertised. Am I wrong? Was I wrong to think that? It seemed reasonable to me at the time.

So, there I sat in a pair of shorts and a tank top with my glasses perched delicately on the bridge of my nose, directions in one hand,
Taser in the other. The directions said that a one-second burst would shock and disorient your assailant; a two-second burst was supposed to cause muscle spasms and a loss of bodily control; a three-second burst would purportedly make your assailant flop on the ground like a fish out of water.

All the while I'm looking at this little device (measuring about 5" long, less than 3/4 inch in circumference, pretty cute really, and
loaded with two itsy, bitsy AAA batteries) thinking to myself, "No friggin' way!"

Friggin' way - trust me, but I'm getting ahead of myself.

What happened next is almost beyond description, but I'll do my best. Those of you who know me well have got a pretty good idea of what followed. I'm sitting there alone, the dog looking on with his head cocked to one side as to say, "Don't do it buddy," reasoning that a one-second burst from such a tiny lil' ole thing couldn't hurt all that bad (sound, rational thinking under the circumstances, wouldn't you agree?).

I decided to give myself a one-second burst just for the hell of it.

(Note: You know, a bad decision is like hindsight-- always 20-20. It is so obvious that it was a bad decision after the fact, even though it seemed so right at the time. Don't ya just hate that?)

I touched the prongs to my naked thigh, pushed the button, and HOLY*********! DAaaaauuuuuuMN!!!

I'm pretty sure that Jessie Ventura ran in through the front door, picked me up out of that recliner, then body slammed me on
the carpet over and over again. I vaguely recall waking up on my side in the fetal position, nipples on fire, testicles nowhere to be
found, soaking wet, with my left arm tucked under my body in the oddest position. The dog was standing over me making sounds I had never heard before, licking my face, undoubtedly thinking to himself, "Do it again, do it again!"

(NOTE: If you ever feel compelled to mug yourself with a Taser, one note of caution. There is no such thing as a one-second burst when you zap yourself. You're not going to let go of that thing until it is dislodged from your hand by a violent thrashing about on the floor. Then, if you're lucky, you won't dislodge one of the prongs 1/4" deep into your thigh like yours truly.)

SON-OF-A-***** that hurt! A minute or so later (I can't be sure, as time was a relative thing at this point), I collected my wits (what little I had left), sat up and surveyed the landscape. My glasses were on the TV across the room. How did they get there??? My triceps, right thigh and both nipples were still twitching. My face felt like it had been shot up with Novocain, and my bottom lip weighed 88 lbs. give or take an ounce or two, I'm pretty sure.

By the way, has anyone seen my testicles? I think they ran away. I'm offering a reward. They're round, kinda hairy, and handsome if I must say so myself. Miss 'em; sure would like to get 'em back.

    Never Touchin' the Taser Again!
    .....is the answer

Apparently it's also very useful for erectile dysfunction in grumpy, stressed out Policemen.

Probably the same way they would feel if their loved one was shot to death/died from an astham attack after being pepper-sprayed etc.

Next time you see somebody behaving in a manner that could result in them being sprayed/Tazered/Asp'd I suggest you don't call Police, instead call somebody else that will subdue them and calm things down with nobody getting hurt.

And if you know of such a mythical person that is available all over NZ could you please PM me so I can contact them if needed?
