A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

Doesn't really matter how good the Daelim is. It'll be a complete sod to offload when you get bored of it, because no-one will want it.

Actually I was mooching around a shop that had them when I was buying my Ninja and had a close look over one. The finishing on it was pretty awful. There was a paint seam right down the middle of the tank.

If you do go for a 250 the Ninja is an easy bike to live with and their are loads of them around. Should be a bit cheaper now with LAMs too.

    Just re-read your last post.

Go bigger if you want to do road trips. The 250 will do it, but you have to plan out your overtakes too carefully for my liking.

This is very true. The one I looked at wasn't that bad but definately could have been better.

I find the Ninja puts me in an uncomfortable position (bad back) otherwise I would probably have one already at the price you can get them for...

Who knew that it would be so damn difficult to find a bike with the new engine and size limits?!

I have just spent most of my afternoon/evening on various online trading sites trying to find something over 250cc, (at least 400 for the long road trips I plan on doing) under $5,500, on the LAMS list and in an upright sports bike style (rules out the ninja, katana etc). To be honest, I am now over looking at bikes!

On a more positive note, I now have two options

    Option #1
    Option #2

Option #1 would be great, seems well looked after etc, but it's in Wellington so no way for me to take a look, have a test ride etc.

Option #2, simply the only other bike that fits in my (strict) criteria, other than that...

Anyone have any other ideas? Or any comments on these two bikes?

    Cheers in advance!

    Only the SV650SU...
Here is the approved LAMS list
That one may be too much of a "racing" position for me. Nice bike though...

Whatever you do don't rush into a bike, I'd try and ride a few to determine what suits you.

Also get any prospective bike checked out by a bike shop or knowledgeable mate.

Make a list of a few possible bikes in Auckland and make a day of it, also check out shops up there, most have websites listing their bikes.

    Good luck.

Kwaka ER6L is, I take it a nobbled version?

Edit: Don't rate the Beemer for what you want, but don't let that stop you taking it for a wee test ride.
