2003 yz250f noise after drowning

Managed to drown my bike crossing a stream. After many changes of oil after getting it home to get it going again It now has this noise which I suspect might be a bent conrod. Any thoughts? The funny thing is that it was much worse when we first got it going. So it has improved. I would have thought that a bent conrod would have the same noise regardless of the number of oil changes!

hard to say could be piston slap as water an oil as we all know dont go together pending on how much running it have with water mixed in it is a bit like running it dry and could have created excess piston / bore wear and for that matter wear in bearing cams etc a strip an measure is the only sure way to tell

prolly the big end or main bearing?
the tapping sound sounds too fast for a valve or top end thing?
any metal in the oil filter?
only way to tell is pull her down.

or pull the throttle to the stops and see what happens, take another vid and we'll analyse it further

Cheers mate. Pulled the clutch apart because it seemed to be coming from there. No filings in the filter or the bottom of the engine thankfully. Looking like a total strip down...dammit

Sounds like the kickstarter idler gear, had problem with mine,sounded exactly like that

A piece of (garden ???) hose with one end at your ear ... the other end at the motor. (like a doctors stethoscope) Move the end at the motor around to find the area/source of the sound.

A daft as it may sound (excuse the pun), it actually works ...

Now that is something I didn't consider! Originally thought noise coming from clutch which is pretty close...so will check it out. cheers!
