    Pathetic...

    http://www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/lo...dern-marriages

Seriously? Men are going to take back their lives by paying a bunch of pros to build them a bike at a ridiculous price? Pathetic.... Probably even more pathetic than asking your wife if you can have a toy. Vicki knows I won't bankrupt us too much and she tells me to go get some riding time or project time in as it makes me a better person.... Up side is that when she asks me to fix something its usually half fixed already.

As I said before - she pretends to like motorcycles and I pretend to like gardening - thats how its supposed to work....

That buying a custom bike to fix your sad fucked up life is crap (hey buy one if you like, they look great but they won't fix your life) is typical instant fix syndrome. Go buy a cheapie off TM and build something crap yourself, repeat until you get it right and have fun learning some skills.

You can't buy self respect ffs... What a crap article...

That really got someone going this morning. I must read it now I had just seen the headline and gone WTF before.

The problem is that the men the article talks about spend too much time earning lots but don't get to spend it, at least not without the wife's permission. Because they spend so much time earning they haven't got time to build it themselves and if they did have the time they then get the whole domestic sharing guilt trip laid on them. Funny thing is the more freedom and so called equality woman have got the less happy they have got, according to that article.

Back bone comes as an optional extra apparently... Not that Dare Jennings could give a fuck about you or your problems, he just wants to make more money selling motorcycles.

fairly typical of farifax these days.

it is clearly marked as an opinion piece, I will say that. But yeah. Shit otherwise. I quite like some of their bikes but...

Interesting reactions to the article. Which I thought did a pretty good job of presenting an even sided report, on marital situation this day in age.

I've been in a relationship like is spoken of, you guys judging us clearly have not one fucking clue.

What I'm saying is buying a premade custom bike aint gunna save anyones problems and its stupid to suggest it will.... You may well feel qualified to argue the opposite but somehow I think you would only be trolling...

So - by your standards only an average troll but I'm not sure its us that come across as being short of clues or judging anyone....

Clearly, far too many people don't put enough thought into who they shack themselves up with.

    Males and females.

Did you read the whole article? That was a tiny piece of it, and used as an exams that men can't make spending decisions like they once did.

I feel qualified to say that I can relate, to the feeling of men described. That is all. I have considered my reasons for being where I was, and imagine it is quite a prolific sentiment in others.

    That's really helpful, but wrong.

Peoples attitudes change with situation. It cannot be foretold what someone will be like after kids/marriage/house purchase/ or any number of other life changing decisions.

Original statement stands. Not one fuckin clue.

    I couldn't agree more, Drew.
I guess you don't realise it until it's too late.

Not that I agree entirely with the article in question, but there are a lot of statements in there that are uncannily familiar ...

Yes I read the whole thing and my lips didn't even move once. I'm only interested in the motorcycle part of it 'cos this is a motorcycle site.... If I needed therapy because I lost my man mojo I don't think this is the place for it... Unless I'm missing something?

Gonna agree with Drew here except for the praise for the article. I thought is was rubbish, flicked all round the place and used Statistics as if they mean something.

i know a lot of guys like this:

They are not appreciated for the contribution they make.
They are expected to work 50-60 hours a week, then the missus needs time out whenever they aren't working.
Getting their own time to do what they want out of the family is met with sneers, sarcasm and guilty accusations.
They get maligned with the kids, and the missus rarely backs him up on discipline.

Sure, not every marriage is like this, and many who aren't in these kinds of relationships will find it hard to believe, but there are heaps of marriages like this. Who's to blame? I don't know. I guess both stop putting each other first.

The interesting stat in the article was the one on time. We here a lot about men not sharing the domestic chores implying they take the excess time doing their thing but the stats in the article instead said they spend less time doing the chores because they spend it at work.

The guys seem to wish they could spend time with their kids in the garage building their own bike but realise they are more likely to be allowed to spend money on a bike that she thinks she will look good on the back of.

As far as using your brain when choosing a mat i thought this was the one time you were allow to think with your crotch
