Rosebank Speedway

I spent the afternoon at Rosebank Speedway today, good entertainment. Having followed speedway in the UK where only solo bikes race I was surprised to see a mix of solo races, minature car things, sidecar and junior solo's. Very good value for such a lot of racing, nice to get some fumes too!

The kids in the 1/4 midgets go pretty fast for XR200's. They used to run vintage midgets too, but they got sick of being used as wheel packers and washing lime off their cars, so built their own track. There were flattrackers for a few years too, but fizzled out. I've been going to Rosebank since it first started in the late '70's ( it was there before then too as a practice track) and it's always been a great atmosphere. Now I don't live in Auckland I only get to go about once a season.
