    Brain dead

on our way home tonight 2051 traveling at 80kpa as it very windy, a car comes up behind me sits that close behind me I thinking they're checking my valve clearance or just being a total asshole, I decided the latter, then the car pulls out at the start of a broken yellow line & over takes me... bearing in mind mrs Shrek is just in front of me 10m then the car just indicates & pulls back in & it's either hit the brakes & let them in or get cleaned up, so I brake let them in... by now I'm then the @#$%* pulls right up behind mrs Shrek, less than a metre... (now I'm realy pissed) thinking they're going to run her down... so I pulled out & pushed my way back in between them with a few gestures etc... & the car sat right up my ass for the next 10 or so ks then over takes.... after car over took & was clear of mrs S I then cought up & sat back about
20m & follow the car into Roxburgh & side road to find the driver was late 50's or in 60's & the attitude was you're only doing 80ks get out of the way..... I would have got off to teach it some manners... but if I'd hit her..... so tomorrow it's off to mr & do it by the book

two things it was blowing a gail & night no moon so driving conditions weren't that flash we would have moved over but there was no where on that stretch & with the brow of the hill & right hand corner coming up double yellow lines

You're only going 80km/h get out of the way, pulling over for 5 seconds would of taken 5 seconds from your journey, avoided taking minutes of another road users journey, avoided pressuring the other driver into overtaking in less than ideal locations and would of avoided you risking yourself and your wife.

80km/h in the conditions could well have been the right speed to be traveling Hayden, concidering that Mrs Shrek is on a very small light bike,

I in no way think that what the car driver did was appropriate/safe/good in any way. Team S are totally right in being miffed (putting it mildly)

However, I still don't see why they didn't/couldn't pull over. If 80kph was appropriate for team shrek, that's totally fine. Might not have been appropriate for the car driver. Pulling over would have save them some grief and defused the situation and made it safer for all involved.

Where does it say the road is so narrow that 2 motorbikes can't find a place to pull over and slow to 60km/h for 5 seconds? I don't care about what speed anyone does, but if you can't go the speed limit and someone behind you can then why hold them up? Seems like a Dick move to not pull over to be honest.

if you know the road between Alex & Rox you would understand, two things it was blowing a gail & night no moon so driving conditions weren't that flash we would have moved over but there was no where on that stretch & with the brow of the hill & right hand corner coming up double yellow lines not a place to over take two bikes

You're right, the decent thing to do is pull over and let faster traffic through. However, if they don't that doesn't give you permission to use your vehicle in a threatening or intimidating fashion.

Yep, fair enough. If it's not a safe place to pull over then it isn't a safe place to pull over. Didn't get that from the initial story! Glad to hear you guys came out of it safe and sound either way.

No it doesn't, but it happens...
I ask of anyone on the group rides that we do.'' if a car is making your ride uncomfortable, slow/indicate and pull left where suitable and safe to do so, and wave them on''.
Far safer without idiots behind you.
How many times would that be appreciated by road users, if Camper vans thought that way?

''so I pulled out & pushed my way back in between them with a few gestures etc... & the car sat right up my ass for the next 10 or so ks then over takes''

Easy way to inflame the situation Shrek....in saying that, I probably would have done the same thing.....and thats not saying its the right thing, just human nature.
So there was no safe place to allow the car to pass during that 10 Ks?
