Fully sealed now. Went that way a few weekends ago. Super sweet road. Definitely ride it if you're in the area.

Ferkin excellent road. One of the North Island's best. A nice summer's day ride from Wellington.

Logging trucks chew up the seal on some of the corners on the Hawke's Bay side. Watch out for that. There are some tight technical downhill corners if travelling from west to east. If it's windy there's going to be a bit of bluster going across the tops on the Taihape side. The views are amazing. Take a camera.

I have a Z1000 that is just itching to go through here.

I don't think sealed roads can be 'technical' at any pace one would (well, should) ever ride at on a public road.

Obviously there are corners and if one hasn't yet learned to ride one's motorbike around corners they could present difficulties, etc.

I could easily be tempted to meet it on the Nightster at one end or t'other of the road sometime.

I don't know what you searched for, but there are several reports of rides over the Gentle Annie dated 2012 - including mine.
IIRC the sealing was completed in 2011 so anything earlier may not be totally relevant.

Gentleannie knocked off . went with me bro'and wife, late start as sportster battery kaput in carpark just prior to departure, better there than first fuel stop,Tirau. Limp back to the shed , quick change of bikes,he got a duke resting at home, and were off to Taupo, Camellia park motorcamp . Arrived 2100hr,$60 cabin, off to Irish pub .Early start, breakfast at Dixies $10 and coffee. Quick run through to Te Haroto, closed for reno', buggar. Through to Eskdale, coffee. Mucked round Napier till midday, gassed up and off to Fernhill. Sweeping bends till road works after Sherenden, tad of moisture in the air so all slow ahead as roads pretty unpredictable .Like coiled springs waiting for the good stuff and sure enough Kaweka forest opens up to what we are after, dry clean twistie kiwi country roads , cool as vistas. Taihape comes all to soon . Fuel, food and head north , then it rained , with hail through national park , off and on till Otorohonga. Auckland at 2015hr , shower and relaxing brew. Good stuff !
