I live in a fairly rural area and have become used to dodging things that stray into my path such as chickens, ducks and dogs. Today I had a bit of a bigger problem. At about 80kph I crested the brow of a hill to find a herd of cows blocking the road. I'm breaking with the front break, pulsing and trying not to lock up. The space between me and the cows is closing rapidly, I'm moving to the left of the road where the herd is thinner and I'm thinking I'm going to have to take my chances on the grass. Miraculously, the cows seem to part out of my way and I think I might just get past them. But no, one of the beasts decides to fill the space left by its buddies. We collide and I'm on my back in the grass.
The farmer and a passing motorist run over to see if I need help. Remarkably, I'm fine, just a bit shook up.
The KLR650 has a broken front right fairing, a few bits of grass growing in the foot pegs and some scuff marks on the crash bars and rear panniers. But that's pretty much all the damage I can see. I ride it and it sounds the same and runs the same as before.
What Im wondering is what I should do next? Do I take it to a garage to get looked over? I am insured, but the farmer offered to pay for the work in cash. Anyone got any advice (of the constructive sort)?
Thanks
