Buying myself a bike. Help please!

    Hi there guys,

I have been off a bike for a couple of years and am going to be getting back into riding very soon!! yay!!!

I need a little help in picking out a few models though, I have looked over the approved LAMS list and I don't know half the models on there, I think I am after a cruiser or tourer style but the only models I know when I see the model name are sports bikes like the GSX, CBR etc etc.

Any help or recomendations would be awesome!

(I have been riding for about 10 years on and off road, kept riding off road for the last couple of years that I havent been on the road.)

    Cheers,

    Tim

Some awesome people in this forum (gnjackal and PeloNZ) made this list for people like us who don't know which style a bike is just by its name: http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/wiki/LAMS/Approved_list

You can re-order it by type, cc, model or make. I assume the status of it is from 1 month ago http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...st-with-styles

It doesn't have pics yet or links, but hopefully that will come.

    Don't forget this:

Helps you get a good guesstimate of how you might fit on to a model/style of bike.

Looking at spending up to 10k ish. can maybe go over that if I love it enough.

Quite like the idea of the more upright sports bikes like some of the naked ones.

Need to do some test rides though.

A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

It's CB, not CBR. And CB was around long before the R came along.

Eeeer .. um .. buying a bike has more to do w with money than the licence ...

Rding a bike ... now that's different ... that depends on whether you care about being legal or not ...
