Just wanted to give a huge shout out to the guy who scraped me up on Sunday in Foxton
It was hugely appreciated only I was kind of sore and I'm pretty sure I got confused at some point as I cannot remember your name here! But I did remember you were here!

You were a champ and I was rather grateful for the helping hand, spent the arvo at Palmy hospital but was finally given lots of drugs and a pass home with no internal bleeding, so we were all most grateful.
I'm already turning some wicked colours, and bruised the size of a breadplate!


Now... to see if I can be better enough to ride this weekend.

I suspect he's the guy who they had in ED along with Paul (dislocated shoulder) and I in Palmy.
Sounded like he had a broken femur and arm from what we heard. He was quite chipper when they brought him in, Paul was making jokes about the three of us taking up all the beds there.

Have to also give props to the organisers, got a call from them last night checking I was okay and asking for any feedback on the ride which I thought was really good of them.
I thought the tracks were very well marked, but the hazards not well marked at all and he not only said they would look at marking better next year but they offered that if I wanted to I could come and do an early lap and show them anything I thought should be marked better as a warning point and they would start using more of the double down arrows and cautions.

The spot I crashed, I saw over a dozen people come off while doing similar to what I did including a wee boy who would have been all of 7 or 8 who fell off, then got collected by another crashing rider.
The hill should have been marked as a double down because it was blind, veered left as soon as you came over the crest and there was a root step just over the lip. So while experienced riders were doing okay, it was nasty if you didn't expect it - and because of the sand being tough you were climbing the other side at speed to make sure you got over the top!
A couple of years ago my partner was taken out on the same spot, but he remembered it.
I didn't as I'd been going much slower last year, so I'd not remembered the nasty bits as going slow it wasn't so bad.

So will be hoping to see more markings on those blind nasties next year and a bit more warning.

Other than that it was just a hard work ride. No let ups anywhere really. Good for learning sand on though!

yeah it certainly was a hard out sand track. Last time we did it in 2010 they had some fairly long open sections which gave a bit of a break from the sand.

edit: just looked at google maps from 2010 and 2012, i think the reason why there were no open sections is that they planted trees in those open areas. bugger.

And possibly he hadn't, he was sitting up and chatting when they wheeled him past me, however I didn't do much more than wave as the drugs were kicking in LOL

When we did the sweep lap I noticed double downs before the hill - I'm not sure if this was done retrospectively though. Glad to see you're smiling again you charmer you.

Ahhhhhh it was you!!!!

I did a search but I had flyin in my head. No wonder I couldn't find you.
Was nice to meet you, hopefully next time without the medical reasons!
