She says 'You are such a boy.'

They might have - if they'd actually existed
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

There was a Motorway, the very first one,and we used to cross it like any road....to get to the other side I suppose. But you had to be carefull because it was wide (4 lanes) and cars went faster than normal....and we had to look out for Cop cars - they were MkI Zephyrs and painted turquoise - I'll take disbelief as being proof the poster was not there.....

Harrumph. Well if someone gave you a good clip over the ear for disrespect, 'twas probably me.

Used to annoy me that did.

Ford Zephyr was good, but not as good as the Ford Pilot I reckoned. [ now, listen to em, "whats a Ford Pilot ?". Wonder if anyone remembers them. And that damn distributor]

The Pilot was a joke - I'd sure be laughing if I had one now. They disapeared off the face of the earth pretty quick. The V8 60 was a sweet motor.....the Cop ones were black, very sinister......

'Twas not *A* motorway, 'twas *The* motorway.

And we used to go and drive down it, not to go anywhere, but just to say "we drove on The Motorway last night". I remember those turquoise Zephyrs. I knew someone had a Mk I Zephyr with TARTAN PLASTIC SEATCOVERS. The very height of sophistication, how we envied him.

And the only ticket I ever got until last year was dished out by a MOT cop in one of those black and white Mk IV Zephyrs. He got me to sit in the passenger seat while he wrote out the ticket and I can still remember looking out over this huge expanse of bonnet. Mightily impressed I was.
Of course I wouldn't have been so impressed if I'd known about all the troubles they had with this model. Overheating for a start. Apparently in the British Ford HQ for many years "Mark IV" was a swear word.

But even I'm not old enough to remember cops in Mk I Zephyrs...
Age is too high a price to pay for maturity

I still hear that (and see the smoke) every so often. A very nice sound it is.
