How to put rego on hold?

I tried to put my bike rego on hold online. To do this, I am asked for my drivers license details. However, at present, I don't have one due to excessive demerits! How do I put it on hold, then? Of course, the simeple answer, may be to ring them, and let them do it ova the phone at the cost of $10.40

Yes try putting a company car on hold without paying the $10.40.

However, if you moan and moan and moan eventually they waive the fee. They are trying to reduce calls to the call center. They will one day work out it has increased them, and they all take longer...

Get off your computer and go into a Post Shop. The bike will need current rego (or you will have to pay rego up to that date). And you will/may need proof of ownership/ID

You can still use your number for this sort of transaction.

Yeah, wot he said. You don't have to actually hold a licence to put a vehicle reg on held.

They only ask for your DLicNo as part of the ID check to make sure the person putting it on hold actually has the right to do so.

Remember, having the plastic card in your hand and having a licence to drive are two different things.

the person on the phone kept saying, just go to our website and do it there for free. my response was , yeah? like ive already done you mean? well just go online and you can put the rego on hold she says, so yet again i said, but i just told you that i already did that now i get a bill. ..........as i keep reminding my son, people are stupid

Before you log out of the Motor Registration computer you can print the screen details of the hold and you can also get them to e-mail you a confirmation that the hold is in place. This is all free.

I have 6 vehicle plates that go onto hold, and come off hold with varying periods involved and have had for the last 5 years. I have never had a problem doing this on line and have never had a bill for registration arrears. It sounds to me as if the final step of the "put the vehicle on hold" process was not completed properly and thus the vehicle was not actually placed on hold at all.

I find the system is actually really simple.

But then I have had a lot of practice.

    But,

I don't have my details from the license, as it was taken off me. I cant imput my details into the system, so it won't let me go past the first page.

Have you got the ticket that cost you your license? That will have your license details on it. Or the letter telling you how long you have lost your license for?

Get off your bottom and go sort this out. $10? charge??? That's crap! Last time I called a member (Dean) out over this sort of shit he had to back off.

Ring them, it is a free call. Explain your situation. Get your rego put on hold.

I broke my ankle. I could not ride. I got Millies rego placed on hold.

    COST ME NOTHING!

Thanks for the replies. I rang LTSA up, explained the situation, got told twice it would cost me $10.40 ova the phone, asked twice for the supervisor and eventually my phone call was put on hold. Came back, and agreed to waiver the fee, after talking to supervisor Did get told that I could use anyone's license details on the online form - to which I pointed out that my friends would consider that a security issue, and I would'nt want to ask anyone for that favour!

    When was that?

They've changed some shit recently. You get charged 5$ and change for doing it in person, for example. A "processing fee". They charge you a "processing fee" for scheduling your Restricted Test over the phone as well.

It would not surprise me, then, to learn that they have now started charging you for putting your license on hold over the phone.
