I reckon each to their own and all that. But I've never been drawn to riding in groups etc. Sheepish like behaviour to me.

Funny how life changes "I started riding in 1972 and liked brittish bikes because before they stopped riding all of my family rode British because that's basicly all there was.

But by the end of 72 I considered all Brittish bike riders to be nothing but dirt bags "because by then most of them were.

For at lest 20 years owning a bonnie was a waste of time unless you knew people,,and even then it could just as likely be those very people you knew that would be trying to steal your bike.

The HA's just went from being bike thief drunken violent cunts to being rich drug dealer violent cunts.

Through a family member that I have fuck all to do with here I've run into a couple of the HA's twice in the last couple of years,, both times I was offered P or coke while my shit head relative was franticlly trying to catch their attension from behind my back to let them know "I was not" one of the boys.

I also have a brother that is a member of the gypsy joker mc in Oz and a sister married to a highway 61 member,,,their exactly the same but with a different cartoon.

All you dreamers that think bike gang members are so cool,,,just be gratefull your not related to any of the vermin.

My brother and sister destroyed our parents last years with their constant shit,,cops parked out side at all hours,,cops following and standing over family members because of who they were related to.

Kids that haven't seen their fathers at xmas "ever" because he's always been on the club xmas run.

Kids that have had their bed rooms turned up side down at 2:00am while armed cops keep them out of their own homes because of what daddy and his mates have been up to this time.

Family event's taken over and ruined by stand over tactics and piss weak cunts trying to prove themselves to the "the club".

More resentlly,,wives and kids not being able to stay in their own fucking homes due to drive by shootings.

I had my own future in Australia bought to an abrupt halt by the Australian/NSW police within one week of them finding out I was related to a joker and a 61 toss,,,,five years and thousands of dollars down the drain over night.

1%ers are cool,,,yeah cry me a river ya fucking dreamers.

Id agree with that. I prefer any to keep them at arms length ,

On saying that : As a young 9 yr old in the car going to golden bay for the family holiday , only to have 15 , 20 brit bikes stream past , was fascinating and probably got me into bikes

Just like Henry Ford said. Back then you could have any colour you liked as long as long as it was white. My first helmet was one of those pudding basin. Then I got a Jet styled white helmet. Really made you fly.

Actually that helmet was my 'going on a longish ride' one (we were off to lake Ohau). Because it was new (ish) it would nearly stay on at highway speeds and it cost $18 from 'Tommys Suzuki center' and it was actually a fetching powder blue... It was so ghey even my Vespa riding brother wouldnt borrow it... and thats why it was $2 cheaper than all its more attractive brothers.

I figured I was tough enough for it... Eventually it became black with silver ghost flames in a moment of drunken sartorial madness to match a gas tank I was painting... The helmet looked great but the tank looked rubbish so it ended up blue... go figure... Black tank went blue - blue helmet went black - sort of rebalanced the universe...

I seem to remember it came with a visor which was pre scratched from new and utterly opaque at night under lights. It was so wobbly it distorted at 35mph and at 50 flattened against your nose. Very useful... I generally used ex US Army WW2 welding goggles which were dirt cheap from Valentines.

That helmet had a lot of adventures and ended up a planter....

The whole black helmet thing was a protest against the helmet laws (in theory) although it never seemed 'organized' to be that. I did have another semi jet helmet that did up with domes and flew off your head at about 40mph. It was heavy beyond belief and I suspect it was made of lead and designed to protect sailors from radiation or something... Stupid blood thing. Mum threw Dads old 'corker' away cos even she could see it was really worse than useless which was a shame as I'd like it now.

I used the blue one for MX, speed trials and general hooning until I got a FFM full face which was nasty nasty nasty....
