Heya, yeah I got one lined up that I'm having a look at in a couple of days. What I've seen so far are generally poorly kept bikes that people are asking around 3g for and fairly good condition ones that are between 3.5-5k. Is it worth dishing out 3.5k for bikes that are 20+ years old?

    In my opinion, No.

I think they have been overpriced due to lack of options for learners - with the lams law in place now, I still expect to see these bikes drop to 1500-2500 depending on their condition, which is closer to what I think they are worth - whether that happens or not depends on whether or not people are dumb enough to keep spending 3.5-4k on 20 year old hang grenades that sound like a food blender going apeshit with their 19k rpm redlines, when there are a huge rnge of other bikes to choose from now.

but if its what you want, get it anyway

This. It's still the most entertaining (along with the 3LN3 and ZXR-A/C) LAMS bike in the lower end of the price range

And, if you're being genuinely fussy you're more likely to get a good example, of which there are many, don't be fooled by the FIAT driving, socks and sandal wearing limp wrists who think just because it's old, thrashed, abused and done many kms... wait... bad argument

    As you were

    Great bikes, buy carefully

+1. Old thrashed IL4s are lottery. Do you feel lucky?

Grab a 250Hornet if you can. Less likely to be thrashed so hard, and you can find newer ones up to 06/08 or so. Basically same motor as the CBR250s, just slightly detuned. Great bikes.
