    WTF HD72 advert

Saw the advert for the new Harley 72 tonight.........Well it wont spin my wheels and Santa can keep mine for someone else. But the lack of safety gear on the rider in the advert is crap, but i spoze it all about the image and selling bikes, looking cool is far more important

Thought I at least owed it a look before passing judgement so I went here: http://www.ultimatemotorcycling.com/...ty-two-preview

Two things ... yep, image is paramount. If you look at the list of 'features' in the article, 13 of the 15 items listed are about the appearance of the bike. The other thing I noticed ... a 7.9 litre tank? At the mileage given that runs bone dry before 160km is up. If that's worth it for a pretty peanut tank then you're welcome to it. Not for me though.

yeah I'm not one for standing on a soap box and preaching........and no I'm not a fan of HD, a XR1200 could change my perception though. I gather this is a bike targeted at getting newcomers into HD ownership, I would have thought a flash HD leather jacket, gloves, pants, boots etc wouldnt ruin the image they were after too much.....could it?

You buy them for posing around town not for serious riding

Never been much of an HD fan myself but just bought me an XR1200X and it's very definitely a completely different animal to any of the other HD's I rode (ie it goes around corners......better than expected in fact). The "cruiser" models not really my thing.

Had a few HD's of the older type, Pans and Shovels. Always reconned that getting a Sporty was like having a GN 125 when you could have a GN 250.

May the bridges I burn light the way.
