The police's blind approach to speed is shown not to be working http://www.stuff.co.nz/motoring/8125...d-toll-up-11pc

Yep remember the Mamaku's on Highway 5 to Rotovegas had the lines to , they were mainly used on the country roads with a known speeding history in the end it became to costly to continue with it, then we got the hawk radar and speed cameras.

Road toll up 11%! Geez. What's going on? Could it be something other than speed? Like driver inattention? I'm gonna blame the 4km/h tolerance

There was stuff all motorcycles ridden to wangas on boxing day, stuff all cops on the road, cloud base of about 1000 ft, thunderstorms rolling across central all day. It wasn't a good day for traffic managenent in a plane. Even the camera van is painted in police colours with 'strategic traffic management' painted in the side, like that is real sneaky.

Yup, I remember that. Weren't there some "extra" white lines "applied" and a bit of black paint easily used on the existing ones, by some naughty locals?

I guess our "intelligensia" will have to wait for the Victorian State police to tell them what to try next...

Yes that is true. They did the same thing on the back road between palmerston Nth and Fielding. I never met or heard of anyone that actually got a ticket this way.

On the Desert Rd Friday, about 1.45pm, a police patrol pulled over a south bound camper van. I had commented earlier how quiet the road was. Behind the camper I counted 85 vehicles before I realised I can't count that high.

Well done Desert Rd police on Friday.

If they got pinged by radar at the time (locked on speed) ... they wouldn't have known. And the cop probably wouldn't have said.
