Number 8 is the one rule I cannot handle and by all means blow my top when someone does that to me. I've driven to wellington from Palmerston North several times this year and apart from the one trip I did at 2am, every other trip has been filled with moronic muppets who seem to think passing lanes are drag strips. Surprisingly this only seems to occur when I'm in my car not my bike.
Anyone with similiar experiences?
I still notice people speeding up for passing lanes when I'm on the bike. Don't know why they bother though.

I think that guy is a bit full of shit, a decent portion of tourists in NZ will be from asia where if you go to youtube and type trafficyou'll find at least 1 video that looks like this:
compared to the one or two points he made, I think the above is much worse (or better, as traffic seems to flow)
There was a top gear where they drove along indian open roads (or was that the middle east one?) which were much worse than SH1
